I bite back words

I bite back the words-
   although they come
     fast and early.
A few months ago you were (here)
                      a dream.
A few days ago you were (gone)
                     a memory.
This morning you are (here, but gone)
        laughter on the line.
And my laughter mingled with yours-
    calling up emotions long buried.
Things I haven't felt in years -
things I've been trying not to feel for you.
(it's always easier if you don't, right?)
Yet, here it is,
   undeniably - and surprisingly light-
and giddy. And happy.
I need to share - I need (this fire)
            to hold you.
So you feel me and
         no..
because I'm still biting back words.
