Our CD
glowing like the Coca-Cola candle Christmas tree
our embrace was inviolate
and for an eternal ten minutes we were
held
an unbroken circle
spoken for in an ecstasy conducive baritone
.."this is our CD" you told me
yes it is ours
I know Michael Stipe was imagining this when he sang
"You said that irony was the shackles of youth"
but the truth is
I will never pawn "Monster"
not even after our road trip down south
when we'll both be ready
to toss it
out the window.
