In the Past

I've seen the end of my journey
a truly amazing one at that
For I've seen myself climb mountains
so high
that to look down
would be turning back

The clouds I've chased
from puffy to raging storms
the lightening and thunder
plunged into me
making a new man
taking the old ones form

My journey to you seems but a trifle
I hear it deep within your voice
You call me a friend, but your eyes say different
A man, An acquaintance
One of very small credibility and life

And I say to you, my life is a grand piano
too good for any song you'd ever play
A macabre sense of life is your journey
twisting, turning
trying to push me down along the way

To you I say no, step away from me now
Our paths are taking different routes
yours goes there, mine goes here
bending and meandering
and they'll never cross again

Maybe you can't see it all
My sight tells me that I have
Your painful words and hurting sorrows
filling me, degrading me
will forever be
..in the past.
