Dance of the Shackled
Nightime,
Fills a crisp cold sky.
Couples lying naked on cold grass
feel contorted souls unwind to silent music.
Let cares run from your body like dew from overburdened leaves my princess bride.
Prisoner's of war get up and dance
like rythm cloaked skeletons under a werewolf moon.
Elven guards drop acid around a diamond fueled fire
then join hands to sing the last notes of severity
before total complacency takes its place.
Darkness brings the wild ones,
shy reserved and nervous they shuffle forward,
as if fearful that the sun might escape its captors and come raging over the black horizon.
In the safety of the shadows they sit in tight groups
and plot their terrible revenge.
Moonlight breaks the cold shackles of bondage
and a world awash with darkness
is populated by folk who live the freedom with the untold joy of the newly released.
Only those who have known captivity
can truly know freedom.
