Midnight Swim
Listening to the engines purr
we pulled away from the dock
out for a midnight cruise.
The lake catching a perfect reflection
of the moon looking down on us
as we watched the peaceful wake
trail behind.
Out in the middle of nowhere
the engines now silent
we shattered the reflection
jumping into the crisp water
so refreshing, it was startling.
All of the day’s worries
washing out of our naked bodies
while swimming like swans
in silence
soothing our souls
for a new tomorrow.
