Comment on this Work
I feel in the back of my mind|
his presence always there
lending strength to my weariness
perseverance to my faltering feet
serenity in the midst of chaos
courage in the midst of fear
Even now I find in his memory
love and knowledge, wisdom and comfort
a sure and steady anchor to my travel-weary soul.
What was I to him?
What had I to offer?
companionship to his solitude, perhaps
solace to his sorrow
passion to meet his hidden fire
now banked like coals in my heart
Pain and struggle and darkness we shared
laughter and life and joy
I would trade all the remaining days of my life
to feel his heartbeat beneath my lips once more
