31 July 2001

hands up if anyone missed me.

I arrived home very late Sunday night, but since I was sick yesterday, I took the day off work.

... grab a coffee and settle in, I'm going to do a round up....

(where to start?)

I had a wonderful time! We didn't buy a whole heap, a lovely painting, which I'll get a photo of ASAP and a red cardy and that is about it really, we spent WAY too much money on eating out, but the food we had was worth every cent. The food was just amazing!! If you want to dine in style -- go to Melbourne! I think I only had red meat once or twice  the entire time I was away almost every night we had seafood - fresh fresh seafood.

Both of us tasted kangaroo and emu meat, they seemed to be a bit like corned beef, but the crocodile we had - oh that was good!! hehe.

On our last night together, Ross' sister offered to watch TK while we went out together, we had dinner and then saw Bridget Jones' Diary, a chick flick, but totally hilarious I'm sure Ross enjoyed it too.

The only two things that were on our list of 'things to do' that we didn't get done were going to the zoo -- which we didn't do because TK wouldn't eat his dinner on the dinner tram and getting to see 'Tiffany's', we just ran out of time on that one... and that is OK though, cause we'll be able to do that later. I saw in a magazine on the plane that there was a special show of antique jewellery at the Collins' street store which finishes in a few days, so I am slightly more disappointed that we didn't manage to get there now.

We did so many things I can't list them all, I'll try and remember:

We went up the Rialto tower, a 55 story tower with views over the entire city, the aquarium, which was amazing, although very expensive. We went into the casino, but couldn't go into the gaming area's because of TK.

We walked hand in hand up the Yarra river, which was very pretty. We trammed, we trained, we drove to Mt Dandenong (couldn't see for fog, but we went!!) we ate on the 1928 dinner tram which was amazing, we had the best seafood meal of my life at a romantic restaurant called 'windows on the bay' .. just Ross and I.

We walked the city, we went on 'Puffing Billy' a 101 year old steam train that went up into the mountains, TK just loved that. We went to the steam train museum which had about 20 restored steam trains that you could climb up into and play in.

We met all of Ross' family and spent time with his parents, we drove to Arthurs Seat, visited my Aunt and her family (who I hadn't seen for over 10yrs) and we spent time together - the three of us, just 'being' - watching DVD's, eating, and talking.

All three of us are sick now, some sort of Aussie lurgie, but we made the most of the 9 days and I'm so happy I went, I'm very much in love.

Ross would like  for us to live in Australia maybe in a few years and I can happily say I'd like that too.

*sigh* I'm very very happy - I just wish we had more time (and money!!).

We are back to counting down the days until the next visit (sometime in October).
