You awake me from my reverie With loving on your mind. Good God it must be a hundred, But you will not be denied... Later, my head resting on your swelling bosom, You reflect on our new Bayou home. You say you've never been happier And to get up--- We've got some place to go... We struggle through the reeds, You pulling me along by the hand, Saying something about a secret place Made just for you and I... I curse the mosquitos--- Atrocious here even during the day--- And you stop then and there To ask, what did I say? We begin to sink into the mud. "The mosquitos..." I start to say, But you will have none of it. "You must be punished," you declare. "I want one kiss for every star in the sky." ...Two hours later we reach your Secret Place. A swimmming hole! There could be nothing better for my dirty, Tired, body. How I crave those cooling waters! But you have other ideas... I look to see that you've disrobed And are beckoning me over to the mossy bank. "I just want to cool off..." I begin, "Besides, it's too hot." "You rogue, you scoundrel...Make love to me!" "We just did! I don't know if I can..." But you will not be denied--- And you are not... Still later, the stars beginning to appear In the heavens, It all makes perfect sense to me As we lay on our backs in the calm water. "The secrets of this place are many," You say. "Together we'll uncover new ones each day." What strange sensations! A part of me is afraid, A part of me feels nothing but peace--- Exquisite peace--- As the peepers begin to play Their nightly soundtrack To our Bayou home.... |
