These divorce chats are getting old You say you'll sleep on the futon I tell you I'll go to Alaska then your parents join in tell you to get a lawyer promise me nothing and kick me out on the street I've learned one thing and it's valuable I'm going to start saving up for Plan B I won't be placid in our marriage anymore letting you figure out the budget and pay the bills while I paint and cut and paste and write and dream I'm growing up fast I think I'll take a class in auto mechanics start a savings account give you back the car that is in your name and buy myself another truck every woman should have money saved up for Plan B when Plan A isn't what it ought to be battered women shattered women women who look beyond the white picket fence and say a soft prayer while the cookies burn. |
