I slide it back on my finger... Although the hand is worn and wrinkled... The ring looks just the same... Young and naive, but we were so in love... 25 years we have shared... Smiles, dances, laughter, tears of joy, heartfelt moments, intimate feelings, sweet glances, tender touches, holding each other, lovely prayers, colored kisses, Eskimo kisses, butterfly kisses, passionate kisses, kissing at redlights/at a railroad crossing, kisses on New Year's for the last 27 years, hugs, squeezes, pinches on the butt, massages, tickling, wrestling, lovemaking, great sex, raising two beautiful happy children, church, baptisms, confirmations, weddings, graduations, births, adoptions, friends from childhood, new friends, warm homes, feeling the hottest in Galveston, TX and being the coldest in Breckinridge, Colorado.... warming our feet or any other body part against each other to get warm...toasting each other at special occasions and no occasions from hot cocoa to Champaign ... great home cooked meals, snuggling on the sofa, snuggling in bed all night every night, dressing up and being naked ... great meals at expensive restaurants, cooking breakfasts together, cold chicken at picnics or uncooked hamburgers, taking care of all the family pets, yard work, washing cars/trucks/bikes,snowball fights, water hose fights, splashing pool fights, slipping ice cubes down the clothes fights, building snowmen, horseback rides, movies, concerts, skating, tennis, horseshoes, badminton, basketball, softball, packing for trips, trips abroad, camping trips, weekend trips, gulf coast trips, snow-ski trip, canoe trips, water skiing trips to the lake, work related trips, buying souvenirs, zoos, museums, Disney world, theme parks, Louisiana State Fair, Christmas Lights, Mardi Gras, rodeos, professional football games, college games, high school games, parking, swimming together from black lake water to clear crystal clean water, hiking the hills/mountains of Arkansas to a beautiful view in Colorado, skinny dipping, shopping for furniture, appliances, clothes, hunting supplies, children's gifts and necessities...birthday parties, anniversaries, family dinners/cookouts, slumber parties, Christmas', hiding/wrapping shopping for presents, staying up all night on Christmas Eves putting children's gifts together, decorating inside and outside, holidays, hiding and finding Easter eggs, rocking our babies, changing diapers, 2 PM feedings, playing games with our children, reading to our children, teaching the children how to speak, mind their manners, the golden rule, eat, bathe, play, work, sing, dance, entertain, laugh at themselves, how to tie their shoes to driving a car, responsibility and right from wrong...to stand up for themselves and what they believe in...to apologize and to attempt to make retribution when they hurt someone or someone's property...our children's school and church programs, teaching children's church Sunday school, PTA meetings, warming bleachers together and cheering for our children and their teams while watching t-ball games, softball games, baseball games, gymnastics, football games, basketball games, danceline performances, cheerleader competitions, cheerleader performances, and all those fundraisers for all those sports...taikwondo, boy scout meetings, boy scout camp outs, selling boy scout popcorn, girl scout meetings, girl scout and boy scout field trips, selling girl scout cookies, we have taken their friends home to taking their friends on family vacations...our children's friends, dates, boyfriends, girlfriends, homecomings, dances and proms. Although I have left out some other wonderful events, I cherish all of them...maybe it is that love got us through 25 years, and will get us through the next 25 years, with God's help...happy anniversary, Dar... |
