Hercules

I know of some husbands that share all their wealth,
And some that are only focused on their bodies and health.
Others spend all their time and money on their homes,
Most husbands want to be "the man" that can make his wife moan.

There are husbands that purchase shiny Harleys, or fast cars,
And some that golf, fish and hunt, or hang out in bars.
Others don't marry and hide all their lives.
While others run around and cheat on their wives.

I think some husbands try to please their mate.
They love, honor, cherish and even like taking her out on a date.
I honestly believe they truly exist,
Those kinds of marriages radiate in bliss.

My husband works at his job for ten hours a day.
Sometimes he can golf, fish, hunt and play.
He comes home with roses and sometimes a surprise gift.
And he can "love me tender" just as in the Elvis hit.

This man has been a good provider and giving dad,
He has helped take care of all the pets we have had.
He takes charge of the maintenance of the home and yard,
My hubby even fills up the tank with gasoline in my car.

There's no one better in a crisis, he has always been by my side.
Supportive and helpful when a loved one is seriously sick or even died.
He focuses on home and will lift heavy objects when I please.
Can't you see that he is my very own Hercules?

But my dear husband is considerably complex,
He's exceptionally congenial, but can become quite vexed.
As a child, he was terribly battered and bruised,
And today, he can hastily exert intense emotional/verbal abuse.

There are professionals that swear that men mellow with age,
And those that say the anger will grow fiercer in their rage.
Some ministers believe that Jesus is the only answer for him.
While my husband vows "stay with me, I won't do it again."

After years of counseling and soul searching for myself.
I have been working my damnedest, so this marriage won't fail.
But in my mind, heart and spirit I know what is true.
I will give him one last chance; if he can't, we are through.
