Another Olive Garden Poem

we had already been around
the damn mulberry bush
find a job, i will
don't buy christmas gifts, i have to
don't order a glass of wine, that isn't Italian of you
we slid into the booth under the clusters
of fake purple grapes
resolved to salvage another date night
this time with a shared appetizer
of fried zucchini and mozzarella cheese wedges
and oh thank goddess we were blessed
with a sweet lovely blond waitress
a cross between Reese Witherspoon and Kirsten Dunst
who asked me if i wanted a sample of wine
could not pass that up, of course
and what a treat she asked me if i wanted red
or white, sweet or dry
so i wound up with a sample of Principato
which went down way too smooth
so i ordered a glass
and downed it and commiserated with you
over the loud brats at the next table
and their moronic parents
and gorged myself on salad with plenty of
croutons and a black olive and a juicy
slice of tomato
and fresh breadsticks dipped in marinara
i was loud and reapplying Rimmel lipgloss
and powder from my chipped marble green compact
we must have discussed religion i don't remember
i remember you telling me that our waitress
gave you A Look and you blushed as you told me
and i was jealous but glad
so we left a ten dollar tip
and drove home happy.
