We watch "Urban Cowboy" in silence, a movie that always disturbs me on some existential level - too many memories of too many Lone Star longnecks tempered with the knowledge that for many people on this very night this isn't a movie - it's their life. During commercial break I go outside for a smoke and watch the lightning strikes off to the northwest - one, two... - and listen to the wind that comes before rain make the tall grass in the back yard rustle just like a wild animal is hiding in it. |
