Eau de Sauce

This taste of honey between us
Is sweeter than honeysuckle wine
Juicier than any southern peach
Ripened on or off the vine
More succulent than pineapple
Gleaming golden in Hawaiian fields
Or a crystal toast with French champagne
Better than any grape ever sealed
This passion we’ve come to know
Kisses melting like buttered sunshine
With a little barbecue sauce dabbed behind our ears
We’ll be ready for more desire
Under the oaks or grassy splendor seared
Crazy quilt holiday spread (Memorial Day) picnic time
