So Far

so far so long
and wasted days stretch the chasm
wider
the suspension bridge of our need stretched
tighter
thinner
so far to go
so far away
so tired of the wait
the weight of waiting
swaying on the slightest breeze,
dizzied and
fearful

and then

you laugh
and it dawns again
the sharp and sudden
belonging
deep gnosis of us
filling the darkest cavern inside my heart
with the pulse and rhythm
of tides and your breath and the indrawn gasp
that prelude to a laugh
heart deep happiness
filling with air
light and
knowing
we have come
so far

I love you
