another late night I crashed hard with you b-i-l's birthday cheesecakes done and baking leaving a lingering of vanilla and oranges on my tongue a creamsicle aftertaste so sweet and the soft deep sounds of sleeping you soothing my fretted mind and aching body I feel the way your breath moves the hair at the nape of my neck where you like to rest your lips in a possessive kiss then an hour later kids kiss me goodnight cheesecake cooling on the sideboard I'm awake again wanting you wishing to feel your breath again one arm tightening around me the other my pillow feeling you and knowing I'm safe |
