Blender of Love Digest May 1999

May Day and More

Welcome to the May Edition of the Blender of Love Digest - the last May of those roarin' 1900s...

Due to time pressures, I'm tweaking the format of the editorial content of this digest. Instead of separate rambles and reviews, there will now be a single "Ramble Regarding Romance" piece. Some months this may involve a review, some months it may just be Kirk nattering away. If a storm of protest rises up against this decision I may reconsider, but for the time being that's the way it's gonna be.

But, despite my slacking on the review front, I will not shirk in my other editorial duties. This month has a slew of great poems, as well as a host of other good works on Heart on Sleeve corner.

Enjoy!

Front Page Picks
My Heart By Rennie Lorca. [Lorca@bigfoot.com]
A piece, tiny in size but not in effect, by an artist who has been occasionally posting to the Blender for a long time.
The Call By X.
A complex braid of words by another artist who usually prefers to create short, pointed works.
i'll ask you once By erin.
Erin caught a very real, dangerous mood, when romances collide.
Smoke
Sirens' song
By frontman_ph (frontman_ph@yahoo.com). From a new contributor to the site. These two works explore the destructive potential of romance.
The Rooftop By Jenna Holland [poetic_angel@gurlmail.com]
A sweet slice-of-life.
one thousand cups of coffee By Kirk, blender-keeper.
An immodestly-selected 4-line work.
Remembering By Mandy (acidrain@ncci.net).
Described as "Driving home and thinkin..."
miss communication ? By alison.
Another facet of romance that isn't happening.
Muse (for Jase) By J.S..
A personal tribute of sorts.
dubious arrangement By Misti Velvet Rainwater.
MVR has firmly set out a poetic landscape of the darker side of romance and this poem is a good example of that.
crap check By kevin urenda, kluless70@hotmail.com.
A skillfully wielded metaphor.
On Bended Knee By Angel. Submitted by Angel no1halo@yahoo.com.
A sweetly unguarded piece.
Bookstore By Madison. [madi@yada-yada.com]
I'm not entirely sure what to make of this work, but that ambiguity is often the sign of good poetry.
