"What if 2000 is like that-- dancing but you don't see the splinters."

Blender of Love Digest January 2000

Hail Hail The Gang's Still Here

It seems that everyone has made it through Y2K intact, my early nervous fretting aside.

The Blender heads into the 2000s ready for years and years of romantic poetry. I never really planned for the Blender to become what is has- it took a life of its own, and I think it has achieved more things than I could have expected.

So read and enjoy, and learn to grow your love as the years go by...

Front Page Picks
What is it to be in love? By Mr. Blue. Submitted by Kirk, Blender-Keeper.
A terrific 'definition' of love.
College Journal Entry By Misti Velvet Rainwater.
MVR has submitted many things from her past this month, as well as pasts that never were. This struck be as a very human and interesting slice of life.
Partially Whole By swallowthemoon@angelfire.com.
A very, very sweet poem, full of trepidation and love.
avenue highlight By the guppy.
Few poems on this site have this sense of rhythm (which nicely highlights the talents of the narrator of the piece.)
The Rose By cliff_switzer@hotmail.com.
A work of prose. There always is something about women who can sing...
The Problem By mEg.
From a "note to a friend, right before bed"- things are never so simple.
Querida By Gala. Submitted by Galadrial@aol.com.
Some languages are more finely tuned to romance than English is.
deaf eyes By kevin urenda.
Kevin is a valued regular contributor of works and to the Blender Board, who probably gets less recognition than he deserves on the Digest frontpage.
Random Act(s) of Love and Violence By Kimbers.
A "Plan B"... I think many of us have had the violent feeling of romance described here.
Regaining stoic By Artdog.
Astute observers will notice I'm a bit of sucker for any Hemingway reference, but this poem is much more than just a name dropper.
Bird Secrets By Jenna Holland (poetic_angel@gurlmail.com).
I like the sense of fate this poem invokes.
scared young boys By crystal . Submitted by ridethemcowgirl82@yahoo.com.
An indictment.
SEVEN By Misti Velvet Rainwater.
Another work from MVR's college days. Sets up an interesting pattern.
On the Town By jgleve@webtv.net.
jgleve was at the center of some heated discussion about what is and isn't appropriate for public consumption on the blender. This work has little to do with that argument. I believe the formatting changed in translation, but I think the rhythm and slant rhymes work better in this paragraph format.
