Blender Review: The Lost Love Project

The Lost Love Project is a very cool but very bittersweet and melancholy collaborative website. People are invited to submit their own stories of love lost, and then readers are presented with a randomly selected tale every time they hit "read another".

And readers will hit "read another"...the stories are compact yet compelling, and most manage to catch a similar vibe. There is a surprising unity among all the works, given the number of authors involved. (To that extent it reminds me of the old bittersweets.org site.)

I'm not sure what I think of the site's self-described attempt to link these stories to "create a metanarrative of a relationship"...there is a wide enough variety of events described that it never feels like a relationship, though maybe of many relationships...or maybe I'm unclear on some of the nuance of the "metanarrative" concept.

The visual presentation is spiffy, each story framed in one of two stark line drawings, a faceless male or female standing in an almost blank landscape.

Overall, the site is terrific, and worth reading and possibly contributing to.
