6000 Years of Embrace

Six thousand years ago, these two individuals were buried together near what is now Mantova, Italy.

Evidence indicates that they were young, with intact teeth, and were ceremonially buried together (though in an unusual North/South orientation) during the stone age, and didn't die in this configuration.

We'll never know the full story of the "Lovers of Valdaro". At this point, we're not even certain of their gender.

But on this Valentine's Day (when researchers said they were giving the world a present, by not seperating the lovers from their eternal embrace) let us share the feeling of romance, that these young ones were a couple, and that the basic feelings of love and affection, created by individuals and recongized in ritual and respect by the community, have been with us for centuries, and for centuries to come.
