I need some advice from my blender buddies... we're thinkin' about buying a house... and we don't have a ton of money... but after a few years, when he's a pharmacist, we will. Would it be stupid to buy a house now?? Should we wait until we're "secure" or should we take advantage of the wonderful interest rates...? Anybody that has any advice to offer, that'd be peachy. ;-) Thanks Guys. I love you all.

Violet....

I have actually had this conversation with MY soon to be pharmacist husband (where is yours "stationed"?) We decided not to (for now) but still keep our eyes peeled...
we're ammassing enough debt with his schooling and are scared to add a house onto it... that and the fact that the property tax where we live is HELLATIOUS...
However, it's also frustrating to drop 500+ a month or more on an apt... an apartment is convenient, though. We don't mow, the maintenance men fix everything, there are pools and a workout room and once we pay rent, there are no other costs.
If the interest rates are great, I dont' know what you have to lose. Be cautious, though. We've gotten estimates on house payments that seemed really low. Once you add in all the taxesa and homeowners and such, it can be a lot.
Good luck! Let me know how things go.

Savannah Haze~ We're in Oregon. :-) Thank you for the advice. Yeah, we pay 635 a month for our apt. It's a nice place... but it's not really ours. We'd like to have a yard and all that... we've started looking into different morgages thru different banks... I think it's going to be possible... but it's just so scary and so expensive! Still, isn't it better to invest?? Hmm... well, thanks again.

TJ - Glad I'm not the only one suffering a block at the mo (tho I agree with Jon, your stuffs still fab). Maybe its the weather. Have really felt the need to write over the last couple of nights but cant seem to get past three lines. Then when I read them again the next day they just seem crap so havent submitted. Will keep trying.

Have loved seeing everybodies photos. Didnt know I was keeping such goodlooking company. Everybody looks so different from how you imagine them to be when you read their stuff. Not that I imagined them to be ugly of course!

And for those in the UK - YEAH TO KATE FOR BEING THE FIRST GIRL TO WIN BIGBROTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Violet - if its possible then i would recomend it. It is scary and stuff, but also exciting and worth it in the end. We bought a house a couple of years ago, we managed to scrape together the deposit and the mortgage was cheaper than renting, and now 2 years down the line we know that if we decide to sell we've made a profit thanks to the rise in prices.

Hello guys. Well, it's nice to put a face to some peoples work. Teej~You do have awesome eyes! And Stephen~ You don't look 19 in that photo. Course, I don't look 19 either so I don't know what I'm theorizing about. If I had a scanner or if I could get to one, You guys could see what I look like too, but unfortunately.... Anyway, talk to you all later.

Teej ~ You're very pretty. Such bone structure! I always pictured you as a worn blonde with glasses and combat boots. Ha! Must have been your occupation. Boy was I wrong!!!

And my Stephen ~ how could you be just 19? You write with such maturity and guts.

Savannah Haze ~ Great pic as well. You looked very realxed on your wedding day. I did too, I think because I enjoyed it so much.

And BK ~ give it up girl, we ALL want to see you!!!! It's now or never or I'm coming to Nashville :-)

Okay so I have a question,( hidden deep within a revolving ramble, but that's what I do, I digress)
Everybody is good at something, it's one of the few sayings I believe, and all of us on this site, we beautiful blenderites know where our talent lies. We all realize that without our love for words, our depth would be reduced to stagnant shallows, (I'm being presumptous here, forgive me for generalising).
Let me switch to I.
I know that I find it harder to maintain my sanity during the periods when my ability to write fails me. I recognized my talent long before I realized that it was as fickle as a two bit whore in a bordello. I mean, architects don't just stop designing buildings, barbers don't suddenly forget how to cut hair.
So what I'm asking is (it's 6:09 am here, and this the short version) if you could trade your ability to write, for any other gift in the world, sky's the limit,
Would you ?

well, i know i'm not a "blenderite"... but i wanna answer the question anyway, lol. basically, if i didn't have the writing ability i have, i don't think i'd be the same person anymore. my mind works very freely, and when i write, it's like i'm putting the freedom of my mind on paper. and if i couldn't put it on paper, it'd be like some of that freedom was lost.

think about it: someone who is athletic or good at sports has physical talent. and we could all work hard and be able to have physical talent. someone who is intelligent has mental talent. but we can work and have mental talent, through knowledge and experience. but how does one get emotional talent? i mean, i think writing is a way to put emotions and feelings, things that are not physical, into a physical form. now, if you can't do that, is there really a way to "learn" how? i don't really think so. i think it's something amazing that might even be taken for granted sometimes.

anyways, lol... to answer the question, no. i wouldn't trade it for anything.
