Ah Gala, I respect your opinion. As always. But I will suggest that so many artists are depressed. The depth of feeling is what creates such magnificent works. AND such despair at times. A few female poets slitting their wrists doesn't imply that that is the epitome of a good poet. At least, not to me it doesn't. But I would say that women who live(d) in an era that doesn't allow them to be as free as their souls demand, who marry a man like their distant father, and who have insecurities of their worth, have more of a likelyhood to take their own lives. Plath fits the bill. Whatever I may think of Plath as a person, "Daddy" is an incredible poem (in my humble opinion).
Sorry, while it may be good writing, Daddy works only if you like inflicting pain. ICK, my tolerance for pain is nil. But let's see now, who amongst us enjoys inflicting pain.....humm (this could be too easy)
Darlin, you know we can agree to disagree sweets. I just remember sort of hating Plath---who had success handed to her...and far exceeded her husband for poetic potential---it seemed wasteful. And when I first dipped toe in the pond of poetry, Plath was still the first name folks thought of...
Plath was an average-to-slightly-above-average academic poet until she began to draw on her depression for her muse. And her suicide was her best career move of all. If not for that, would we still be talking about her today?

I loved your first post, just . It is sad and full of regret (maybe yours, or that of another). However, I in as much as I would love to read more of your work...I can't help but suspect your intentions. Your words remind me so very much of another Blenderite; one who refuses to share. I want you to share...please do.
it doesn't matter ~ blessed mother naturewas beautiful. I love poetry that tells a story without TELLING it. Leaves the reader to figure it out. In their own way. blessed mother nature does that. And the words you chose...perfection!
