New gal again with a long list...

Squeen- Thank you for posting What my lips have kissed. I haven't read that in a while and it brought good memories with it.

Violet- Mixed muffins was such a happy piece (doesn't new lingerie do that every time?) thank you for the smile. Yep,I am an Oregonian and I love it here. I do not own an umbrella and I refuse to wear Birkenstocks. However, I do love a great cup of coffee and I enjoy granola occasionally. Thanks so much for the compliment.

Kevin- You have a great style to your writing.
~When your
question is searching
I am your yes
~ very nice line.

WryShadow- Nightengale(sp?) is beautiful.

Jack- Submerged in images of closer times. ~My favorite!

Madison- Do you ever write badly? As we do is another in a long line of yours that I have enjoyed.

Whew... My fingers are getting tired... :)

Hi Rhet,

Thanks for your kind compliment. To answer your question, I do love my job. But I think that 'Every Prison' is more a reflection of one of the negative aspects of it. It's hard to spend 12 hours a day with these prisoners, know their circumstances, what they're charged with, hear their stories, etc. and then sit in the courtroom guarding them and watch things unfold. I can't say I'm a bleeding heart, 'cause I'm surely not. Nor can I say I'm a hard ass, for that would be inaccurate. All I can do is keep the peace, make sure they are safe from each other, and then listen and say my piece, for what it's worth, and carry a little thought that maybe a month from now, a year from now, twenty five yars from now, something I said to them will come to mind and help them make the right choice when they're faced with a situation. Most of what I say falls on deaf ears, but I say it anyway, because I have had enough of them come back and tell me that they remembered what I said, or how I treated them and it DID make a difference. And I know that I will never know about most of them. Most of these prisoners have no idea what a functional, healthy life is. To think of themselves in a nice house, with a good job, a tight family, and any respect from society is like us picturing ourselves as a movie star or a sports figure. It's just so inconceivable. We can dream, but inside we tell ourselves that kind of life is not for us, we don't get that because we haven't got whatever it takes to have it. And they only know dysfunction. For example just tonight...I had one prisoner talking to his parole officer in the pod area. All of a sudden he slams his fists down on the metal table and starts yelling. Heads to his cell and smashes his walkman, and cusses out his cell mate. We have to cuff him and escort him to the cage as he's crying like a baby. And this is because he found out he's getting 30 days instead of 3. What good is his reaction, besides to heap more consequenses on himself? Attention. Someone listens, pays attention. And then tonight also, we have this prisoner who is crazy, basically. He gets off on hands-on takedowns. He gets an erection and defecates himself when he gets slammed to the floor. So what does he do? He regularily creates a disturbance so we come and cuff him up, etc. What good is this? He has human contact. Attention. And another today goes off in his cell. Slams things, screams, threatens. Why? Because his girlfriend tells him that some guy asked her out today. These are people who are so ineffective in life, that all they CAN do is REACT to their environment. They don't seem to create their life at all. They just slide through it, making bad shit happen and feeling hard done by. They act out the pain and frustrations they were never taught to deal with, never shown how to deal with life and what it throws at us. And they shout. And they kill and steal and rape and bang with the gang and break the laws that are supposed to protect us all. And they are lost. And you know what? Nobody listens.

(sorry about the long tirade. I just got home from work, and it was a long day!) :-)

Arwen I'm just happy you got it. My boyfriend (and he's very deep intellectually, but being an artist he sees images more than feels words) well, when it took me 10 minutes to explain 4 lines of poetry, geeze he had no idea I was talking about anymore than a leaf and wood chimes :| ha. Gala, I think I'll just pick out 2 or 3 of the questions, I'll be gabbing all day otherwise! Interesting challenge. I'll start with #5: favorite nonsexual part of a lover. That one's easy, there are none. None to exclude that is, when I think of any part, they are all sexual! (do I need therapy?)

If I could have a dinner party, it would be catered by Fisherman's Wharf out of Galveston, Texas. And I'd invite these people:
Billy Bob Thorton, Angelina Jolie, Drew Barrymore, Stephen King, Hunter S. Thompson, Erica Jong, George Clooney, Ozzy Osbourne, David Lynch and Carrie Fisher.

From: TJ Holland

Thanx Gala, I'll take that cuppa, and sit down with you any day. I just reread my big entry from last night. I am fortunate that I am one of those people who can do this job. I don't take jail stuff home with me. I do think about it all though. Thankfully, I seem to be able to be empathetic and practical there, yet I can retain the balanced sense of the neccesity of incarceration. I don't feel like the world is shit, or that the criminals are treated unfairly by being held accountable. And one day, I will write a book about it all, because there are things that need to be said. And there are stories...crazy, touching, scary stories that need to be told. A couple of years from now you'll see my book, and read about your role in who I am, and you can say..."I knew her when she was that romantic soul living in a pragmatic world".....

Please excuse the impersonal address - but I am short on time and often too long in my praises!

Here are a few that I read that mooove this mama:
Madison
as we do - I don't need to tell you how much I like this, you always read so well.

violet
mixed berry muffins - fun and whimsical - nothing is more exciting than a fresh start (and the occasional muffin with honey)!

scqueen
Harvest Moon - WHAT A SONG. The way his voice breaks, I enjoyed the read - nearly as much as the memory of the melody!

Galadrial
Port Wine Kisses - Hip Hip Horray. You didn't rest your pen for your birthday? How does the challenge go? Do I post in new submissions or on the board? I shall finish this tonite!

MichaelT()
Leaves - You are constant and your works, however parenthetically prefaced, are wonderful to read.

Maverick
I am THE MAN - well you meust be teh man, huh? If it is written - it must be try, right?

Teej ~

Thank You for giving me such an in depth look into your work. I must agree with Gala, that from what I know of you work here, you don't appear to be your average prison gaurd. I once visited a min. security facility with a class and it was frightening. I wonder what type of shell you must wear to leave those horrific memories at work - and not allow them to haunt you. You are a brave soul - keep safe.

Tangerine, Taboo, Charade, and Betty ~
You are so fun...I am trying to acsertain the difference in each style.

I appreciate this distraction. I love lists. My favorite painting is The Lady of Shalott by John William Waterhouse. The most romantic poem ever written is Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe. Most romantic movies: "Prelude to a Kiss"! "An Affair to Remember"! "The Fisher King"! "An Officer and a Gentleman"! "Always"! I won't name Heartbreaker Numero Uno but lesser heartbreakers include Brian, Jay (much lesser), Josh, Chase and Dallas. The most romantic songs..."Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," "Crazy Love" (Van Morrison), "My Man (Mon Homme)" (Billie Holiday)..."Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground" (Willie Nelson)and "I've Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now)" by Otis Redding.

The most romantic place I can think of on this planet is San Francisco. I've never been there but that's my "dream" city. Thanks, Gala.

Ok ~ My tired brain can only handle 5 of these questions at a time, so here goes my first bunch...

1) 5 favorite romantic movies: Somewhere in Time, Princess Bride, Urban Cowboy (don't you dare laugh, I luved Sissy and Bud:-) Big Man On Campus and One On One (remember with Robby Benson?)

2)5 love songs : The River(Bruce Springsteen), In The Dark (Nina Simone), Songbird(Kenny G.), Walking By My Side (Pete Droge), The Lines Around Your Eyes (Lucinda Williams).

3)Favorite meal with my honey: Anything he cooks, especially veal.

4)Meal alone? A cashew chicken salad sandwich with tomatoes & sprouts on multigrain bread - each half of the sandwich topped with one giant garlic stuffed olive. I get this maybe once a month at a local shop called 'The Loading Dock' - coincidentally owned by the late Phil Hartman's sister.

5)You mean there are NONSEXUAL parts of people? Well, ok - the neck is my favorite.

"Territorial Pissings" is one of my favorites. And "Aneurysm" and "Drain You" and "Something in the Way" ad nauseum. Great poem, btw!!!

Thank you, thank you!! I am glad you enjoyed my latest. Of course you can send this to your favorite ex!! It really is about any man (or woman I guess) who refuses to take a bow and move on. Like dogs, they piss to mark their property. I hate that! Game players and freaks - I wonder if they rule the world sometimes!!

Misti~
I both agree with Chris AND you. I don't think Nirvana is as classis as say the Beatles, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, or even more modern artists like REM. BUT, to those in my broader generation (late 20's to early 30's), Nirvana is a classic. I am not a head-bangin goth chic, but grunge and indie rock are serious "voices" that I recognize. And yes - Nirvana did change the mainstream scene ten or so years ago- that makes them important to future music critics!!! Something in the way - oh yeah! I also love Gimme Back my Alcohol from the Bleach album! Thanks for the praise Lake Family!

I’ve been rather self-involved of late, and have not taken the time to respond to comments that I *really* appreciate getting. So, in efforts to play catch up:

Smiling Kat ~ thanks for smiling with me on “All Rapped Up”. A little whimsy goes a long way . . .

BlueDenim ~ yes, alliterations-r-us. Nothing pleasures like plays-on-words. Thanks for the nod re. “Ob Sessions”

Stephen ~ thanks for sharing giggles re. “Top 10 Reasons”. It’s good to know that *all* the good ones aren’t gay . . . maybe this perspective is enhanced because I live in San Francisco? And as for “Simple Things”: I thought you’d appreciate this New York Times article regarding the power of poetry to console: http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nyt/20011001/en/the_eerily_intimate_power_of_poetry_to_console_1.html

B.K. ~ Thanks for taking the relationship journey with me. What’s the line from the song that keeps playing lately? “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end”. *sigh* What? 400 poems of *unrequited* love? Your work is some of the most lovingly playful on the blender! If this is unrequited, your bliss when sated must be overwhelming . . .

flash ~ Thanks for the feedback on “It’s up to you”. I see why it resonated with you; it’s very close in style to how you explore your own work/self/passion. (which I like very much, by the way: simple statements, with rushing undercurrents of emotion). FYI, I shared my poem “Holding Air #2” with the guy who inspired both poems, and he called me later and said: “Wow. I’m a piss poor friend.” And now, at least, he’s trying. (Well, he was “trying” before, but in a completely different way ;-p)

Getting ready to bust back out on the dating scene. Ick. Sex is so easy, intimacy so much harder, and a committed, passionate love nearly impossible. Wish me luck; my bday's coming up on the 21st! (Lots of Libras here, huh?)

A cool, breezy day has left me too delicate to ponder the where's and why's - but are we in the middle of a war? I am confused. I am completely unable to sort through the evening propaganda to determine the severity of our recourse. A more sober mind PLEASE explain the current political climate.

Violet -
Golly girl, thanks! You are my little cheerleader these days. I am reading a book that has me smitten with its character. Savage Beauty - about Edna St. Vincent Millay makes me wish I would have met that elfen woman on the streets of NYC all those years ago. She is a vixen and she draws you in with words.

sarahsehee...

I loved "touching souls." Especially the lines "If only your thoughts were mine/and our bodies dust,/then maybe, just maybe.../this aching would fade." It invokes, for me, a feeling of potential freedom that always seems just out of reach.

I also went back and read "Remembering." Wow! I love the "earthy" imagery you use... until the last stanza it is like being in a dream, a dream about being a child perhaps, safe in the arms of someone who loved and protected me.... in a word, it feels comfortable. Then in the last stanza, it is like waking up and realizing that, as real as it may have seemed, it was still only a dream... but as Poe put it,

You are not wrong, who deem
that my days have been a dream;
yet if hope has flown away
in a night or in a day,
in a vision or in none,
is it therefore the less gone?

I suppose it is difficult to find a distinction between dreams and reality sometimes...

thanks...

From: TJ Holland
Date: 3 October 2001

B.K - LOVE your bump

Kev -Allison Kraus has the sweetest and most delicate voices in all of music today. She and Sarah McClaghlan should collaborate.

Here are a few more:

11. You get to give a dinner party---any 10 people you name will be magically delivered for food and conversation---who would you pick?
Drew Barrymore (for my kiss!), Three of my closest pals, Umberto Eco, Dr. David Satcher (Surgeon General – he is brilliant), Chaucer – I LOVE Chaucer, Jennifer Lopez – eye candy, Dave Matthews, and Winston Churchill.
Catered by any of the iron chefs!!

12. Most romantic spot on the planet where you have ACTUALLY been.
Belgium and Germany make me think of woolen socks, cool breezes and standing on hill looking out at farmland and sheep grazing. I get so caught up in the wonder of nature sometimes that I can’t breathe.

13. Most romantic spot on planet where you would like to go, and when (season, occasion, etc)
I dream about Bali and Spain – either place would do – perfect weather, no matter the season!

Ok - I must stop here - if I don't I will have said too much. I may have already :)

Ah, scqueen! 'Somewhere In Time' is one of my fav romantic songs, love the movie, too. I play it on piano, used to know it by (heart). But that's back when it was an our song and it's not anymore. When I write for the piano it's kind of an anchor I guess to the style I move towards. Good choice for a favorite movie. Think I'll go rent it again.

From: Echolocation
Date: 4 October 2001

Whew. I'm sure I've left out some important things but here's my contribution:

1. 5 movies: Room With a View, Pride and Prejudice, French Kiss, Four Weddings and a Funeral,

2. 5 songs: Talk To Me While I'm Listening (Nancy Griffith), Lay You Down (Conway Twitty), I Cross My Heart (George Strait), If Ever I Would Leave You (from Camelot), Annie's Song (John Denver)

3. Meal w/someone: Italian -- your basic wine, bread, cheese, but only the best of each: Rosemont Shiraz, fresh-baked Italian bread, fresh imported parmesan, top-quality olive oil w/fresh herbs, etc.

4. Meal alone: OK, this is going to scare you -- liverwurst, cream cheese, tomato and garlic sandwich (see why I only have it alone? And if I'm not alone when I start I'm DEFINITELY alone by the time I'm done, and probably for a long time afterwards!)

5. Non-sexual part: Based on past experience, I would say either shoulders or jawline. I'm a sucker for a good square jaw.

6. 5 books: As if I could pick only five... Atlas Shrugged (Ayn Rand), Fionavar trilogy (Guy Gavriel Kay), Lord of the Rings (Tolkien), Little Women (Louisa May Alcott), Hotel du Lac (Anita Brookner), Turn Not Pale, Beloved Snail (Jacqueline Jackson), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Hunter S Thompson). Oops, that's more than five...

7. 5 sites: Sith Academy (www.siubhan.com/sithacademy), Writer's Digest (www.writersdigest.com), Common Cause (www.commoncause.org), the Objectivist Center (www.objectivistcenter.org), Defenders of Wildlife (www.defenders.org)

8. Decadence alone: Lounging around reading favorite novels, drinking red wine, and eating Godiva chocolates in front of a roaring fire while it's snowing outside
Decadence with others: Lounging around with my best friends for an entire day doing nothing but watching old episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, drinking mimosas, and giggling like mad (nudge nudge wink wink)

9. Heartbreak name: An "Allen" might make me run screaming from the room, though that would be more due to disturbing experience than actual heartbreak. The rest of mine had such bizarre names that the chance of running into a duplicate is slim-to-none.

10. Movie kiss partner: If we're including fictional people, the Comte St Germaine (from the novels by C. Q. Yarbro) If we're including only real people, Liam Neeson.

11. 10 for dinner: Henry VIII, Thomas More, Socrates, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Madeleine L'Engle, the Two Fat Ladies (do they count as one or two?), Dorothy Sayers, CS Lewis, Mircea Eliade, and Katherine Hepburn

12. Romantic place I: South Padre Island, on the beach at night in the spring

13. Romantic place II: ??? Still waiting to find it, I guess!

14. Romantic gift I: The Beanie Baby that has the same birthday as me (Nuts the Squirrel)

15. Romantic gift II: Jeez, no clue. You'd have to ask the recipients, I suppose.

16. Champagne, fer sure (Veuve Clicquot)

17. Meltdown moment: Bites on the neck (that whole vampire thing...)

18. Artwork: Dali's Crucifixion

19. Romantic poem: ee cummings - "if everything happens that can't be done", closely followed by "it may not always be so"

20. Phone call: No clue. Never had a long-distance relationship which is what seems to inspire the marathon phone calls.

3. Favorite meal to share: bread, wine, cheese, chocolate fondue & fruit.
4. Favorite meal alone: sushi & an assortment of desserts
5. Favorite NONSEXUAL part: crooked grin
6. Favorite five books, and authors: based on how often I re-read them: David Edding's Belgariad series, Anne McCaffrey's Dragon series, Frank Herbert's Dune series, Orson Scott Card's Ender series, and the Harry Potter series (hmmm. . .I seem to prefer continuity . . .)
7. Web sites: Loveblender, AtomFilms, Merriam-Webster, Amazon, RedEnvelop
8. A decadent day for you: sleep in, wake-up sex, breakfast in bed, playful sex, jacuzzi for two, massages for two, picnic lunch, drinks by the pool, walk on the beach, watching the sunset, lingering caresses, revelations into the wee hours of the morning

Ok I’m in, but I’m going to cheat a bit (weenie) and pick questions that only need one answer -

3. Most romantic meal to share: Chinese food on the floor from a low candlelit table with oriental music playing in the background. Okay I have two: Any meal we put together to take along to the beach at sunset with white wine or chocolate martinis in chilled crystal stems.

5. Fav nonsexual part: his bellybutton.

12. Most romantic spot: Kauai was possibly the best, but any of them pale to compare with romance under your own roof, or wherever you might be, unless you’re there with someone you’re in love with (or fall in love with!)

14. Most romantic gift I’ve ever been given: He had the candy shop unwrap the box of chocolates, place white gold earrings under two of the chocolaty morsels and then reshrink-wrap the package. It was mailed to me for Valentine’s and he never let on about the hidden toy surprise.

15. Most romantic gift you’ve given: My boyfriend at the time was a construction superintendent working on a high-rise downtown. I had helium balloons (we’d had a tiff the night before) delivered to the top of the building where he was on the scaffolding. On the card were the words from “Love Lift Us Up Where We Belong” (Joe Cocker – Jennifer Warnes)

7) Websites: Loveblender, Xanga, Kisreal.com, Ebay and Yahoo.

8) Decadent day... alone with the ocean, a hammock, good book, nice breeze and time. Lots of time. (Although once I got a body exfoliation as a gift at a spa - and it was awesome!)

9) Heartbreakers? Probably a boy named Doug in the 6th grade.

10) Fantasy shot with a kiss? Aidan Quinn.

Maybe every week or so we'll change the question... think we can get enough volunteers to come up with new questions on a regular basis? Does this sound like a good idea?

Great idea, Kirk. It's fun getting to know people through questions like these. By the way...I never pegged you for a Madonna kinda guy :-)

From: Kirk
Date: 4 October 2001

Heh, I dunno what it is, but yeah, Madonna. The way she keeps reinventing herself, her general kind of screw you attitude, her "Sex" book, her undeniable body...

Drew Barrymore is another favorite.

http://kisrael.com/viewblog.cgi?date=2001.08.15 to see how I feel about Madonna, especially the book.

btw, look for the "survey" thing really really soon. I'm not sure if I have the best name for it. I guess survey is ok. I'd call it Question of the Week but I don't know how often it will be updated for sure.

From: Kirk, Blender-Keeper
Date: 4 October 2001

OK!

If you look at the top you should see the first board survey question. I think 20 at a time was just getting to be too much, so we'll dole them out slowly.

Please let me know if you find any bugs, or ways that it could be easier to use.

Also, as long as I'm up to my ankles in Blender coding muck, it should be pretty easy to add in another feature I've been thinking about: the "Current Workshop Poem"
All it will be is a poem link at the top of the blender board page, that people are invited to look at and then add constructive, building-not-destroying criticism and praise about it to the Board. I need to write up some guidelines for that. And from our previous discussion about the idea, it's going to be voluntary.... people will nominate preferably their own poems. (At some point there will probably be a system for that, for now just nominate one of your works here on the board)

Would some brave soul like to be first to offer up a poem for workshopping?

Yep, Kirk ~ I am in awe of Madonna and her reinventions...she is one hell of a self-marketer. I never really cared for Britany Spears until I saw her dance with that big ass snake on the MTV awards :-)She now has my respect. I think she'll be reinventing for years to come also! Thanks for the survey block.

From: Misti

You're thinking of "Benny and Joon," which is another great romantic movie. "Henry and June" is the story of the love triangle comprised of Henry Miller, Anais Nin and June. I forget June's last name. Great movie, though.

oh...June was Henry's wife, beautifully played by Uma Thurman. Bye!

From: violet
Date: 4 October 2001

thanks misti! i'lll add it to my must see list. ;-)

From: Kirk
Date: 4 October 2001

"Henry and June" was the first film with an NC-17 rating. The idea was that producers should be able to make films with serious adult content without the porn-associated X rating. Well, this being the split personality puritan/sex maniac nation that it is, some theater chains refused to carry NC-17 films, so it basically became another X.

Anyway, it's a Phillip Kaufman film, who also made "Unbearable Lightness of Being", which is one of my favorite fims and books. It has some exquisitely shot erotic scenes, some lesbian as Anais Nin tries to work out her feelings for June and for Henry, but it does it all with a real sense of grace and balance. Uma Thurman plays June and is ethereally gorgeous, the actress who plays Anais (who has about the biggest doe eyes ever) also played Bruce Willis' girlfriend in "Pulp Fiction" (the "who's motorcycle is this?" "who's Zed?" woman from the soundtrack ;-) She's actually pretty acomplished. Henry is played by Fred Ward, don't know much about him, but he gives me delusions that I can look that good when I'm all bald.

They assembled parts of Anais Nin's diary in a volume with the same name as a film, it's worth checking out.

TJ: yeah, Run Lola Run, a favorite for Mo and Me. I mean isn't it the perfect film, nothing but romance and a great soundtrack and a woman running in a tanktop?

I think this survey thing can really add to the site.
How often should we change the question? One thing is that I made it so you can't go back and answer previous questions, I want things to have a sense of closure...

No volunteers yet for a film to workshop?

Keeper of the Juice ~
Great idea on the link...and Gala, hats off to you both for taking the Blender in a new direction. This is fun. Plus, I am a TV and music trivia buff, so many of your responses are guiding me to read and rent some of these titles.
Also - the poetry thing is good too - I think that putting a poem up to have 10 - 15 different ideas thown at it might take it someplace the author never intended. And with an open mind - that sounds like great fun. The piece could transform with each day.

As for Henry and June - I bought it for my boyfriend who told me he loved it and that I would too - and I can't bear to watch it. First, I am anti-Henry Miller. To me, he isn't sexual - he's is vulgar and unappreciative of women. It seemed as though both his wife and his lover were sexual conquests - rather than partners. Am I too jaded? And I love Uma - but her accent in this one make me ill. She is too stunning to be made up like she was in the movie. The eroticism was very well done, though. Violet - I am not trying to persuade you not to check it out - but I am just givin my 2 cents.

Ok - 'nuff said.

From: Kirk

I've really appreciated Henry Miller ever since I read this essay at the back of Time magazine, "An American Optimist". "I have no money, no resources,
no hopes. I am the happiest man alive." Bad French with a Brooklyn accent. Sex with gusto.

One of the interesting things about my first two choices for Movie, "Henry and June" and "Backbeat"... both have an "other man" (Anais' husband Hugo, and Astrid's old boyfriend Klaus) who are actually both accomplished artists in their own right, though because it's not "their" story, you had no idea 'til the ending "what happened to them after" crawl. Hugo has several films in the museum of modern art, and Klaus designed the cover for the Beatle's Revolver album and played bass in the Plastic Ono Band. For some reason I've always identified with them...

BTW, Backbeat is a great flick as well. It deserved more attention than it got, the story of the very early beatles, including Stuart Sutcliff. Or maybe I'm biased because the guy falls in love with a German chick and I had it so bad for Veronika...

I know a lot of women share your assessment of Henry Miller. The opinion I've formed, after reading almost all of Miller's books, is that he had a rapacious appetite for life itself. Not just sex. I think it's awesome that when he was an octogenarian, he was still getting his "groove on" and painting and just enjoying the hell out of life. That reminds me. I need to rebuild my Henry Miller collection!;-)
Riggs~
Yeah, it would be an interesting dinner party. I'd make place cards for everyone. I'd put Ozzy Osbourne in between Erica Jong and Carrie Fisher. Hunter S. Thompson would sit in between Stephen King and Angelina Jolie. Actually, Hunter could sit wherever the hell he wanted.

I'm once again getting serious about getting t-shirts for the loveblender made. It looks like http://cafepress.com has a pretty good deal...not so good if this was meant to be a fund raiser AND have inexpensive shirts, but that's not really how I'm thinking about it, it's more just to have some fun. Shirts'll be about $16, not sure if there's shipping on that. I'm thinking about blowing up the single heart in a blender icon (like at the top of the comments page) with loveblender.com underneath. Or should it just say loveblender ? I dunno... it looks like it's easy to order mousepads and mugs and what not as well.

The cost will be between $15-20.

Date: 5 October 2001

I vote for the teal one with 3 hearts. Long sleeves would be nice since summer's over! And mugs and mousepads would be fun too :-)

From: Kirk
Date: 5 October 2001

Well, I have to admit I'm biased towards liking the blue one with the single heart.

Here's a selection of the stuff you could get, so
long as I set it up:
http://cafepress.com/kisrael

Cafepress is pretty amazing. A little pricey, but SO convenient: I'm not positive if this would ever get done without it. Basic Ts will be $14, but $4 more for shipping. I'll leave the price at my cost (well, it's cafepress making most of the money, looks like they might actually have a workable dotcom business plan, since they've been around for a few years.)

From: Kirk
Date: 5 October 2001

Also, just to be obsess about this a bit more... should I make an entirely new model, one with three hearts, so it won't be all pixel-y? Personally I like the big pixel effect, but I understand if others don't. Speak up! (And do you want anything for the back? Theoretically I could be clever and add (short) poetry back there or some such, or a tiny version of the main logo, or a small logo in front, big logo in back...lots of options.) Speak up, it's an $18 shirt (or $25 sweatshirt), you deserve to have it how you like it!

From: jackryhme
Date: 5 October 2001

From: Madison
Date: 5 October 2001

I like the blue one with 3 hearts (I know I know it's not there but that's the one I see) and I see it on the back with a small something on the front shoulder.

From: B.K.
Date: 5 October 2001

How about a pocket on the front with a small one there and then the larger one on the back with bigger logo.

Or could we get the big emblem on the front and one of our own favorite poems (ha ha) on the back. HA HA!

From: deevaa

From: scqueen
Date: 6 October 2001

OK ~ So far, the most votes are for the teal/3 heart blender. (YEAH!)

I would like to see the quote from 'The New Yorker' on the back, that is always present on the home page of the blender.

I'm with Dee, no pockets. And besides, BK has used up all of her votes :-)

From: Misti
Date: 6 October 2001

I like the idea of a simple white or sky blue short-sleeved t-shirt with the regular Blender logo (teal blender, three hearts)on front. Nothing on the back. I'd buy at least five. My family knows about the Blender (they should! I've been here since '97, more or less)and they'd love the t-shirts.

From: Echolocation
Date: 6 October 2001

I vote for teal/3 hearts. If anything on the back, I suggest (a) the New Yorker quote that's on the main page or (b) the little string of icons that's at the top and bottom of the pages (blender home/submit work/add message/read latest/etc) Not necessarily the words, just the icon.

I would buy one for sure. Personal preference -- can we do them in the really good-quality 100% cotton, not the nasty thin fake stuff? Yay!

From: wistful
Date: 6 October 2001

I vote for the string of icons wee small on the front left breast (pocket or no), and the big blender with three hearts on the back. I would definitely get at least one (maybe Xmas gifts, eh?)

From: Kirk
Date: 6 October 2001

I'm sorry about the cost, Dee... admittedly there are cheaper ways of making shirts, but honestly I'm not sure if it would *ever* get done without the convenince of this one service. I've decided to set the price at my cost, though obviously cafepress (as a dotcom that actually seems able to survive) is making a bit.

So I guess people like the idea of the icons expanded, with a pixelated look, rather than me trying to redraw a blender from scratch?

Actually, maybe I could make a survey question, how do you want your blender shirt? 'Cause I can make multiple variations, actually we could almost set up one per person.

From: Kirk
Date: 6 October 2001

The other New Yorker quote that might work well, I've used it on banner ads:

"It will make you feel young again."
--The New Yorker

From: Rhetoric
Date: 6 October 2001

Hey!! This shirt idea is great.

I vote for the 3 heart blender - either color, no matter to me. I do like the idea of the loveblender.com AND a quote on the back. The pixels make it look techie - I like it. Sounds good - I will get 2.

Also - I just rented The Unbearable Lightness of Being last night based upon this site and I loved it. I feel silly saying that I was still rather young to see the film when it came out in '88. Daniel Day-Lewis was amazing in this. Of course, Juliette Binoche and Lena Olin shined as well - both are amazing actors and hauntingly beautiful to watch!

And we could talk for hours about John Cusak...from Say Anything to Being John Malkovich - he always is the unsung star of the film. I am the informal president of his West Virginia Based fan-club!! Just playing - but he one of my faves.

To all, a great Saturday - or Sunday where ever you may be.

Your comment about "adding a poem of your own" got me thinking: I know I've seen a Loveblender poem out here before (was it B.K.?) Is this a possible poetry challenge in the making: poems about the loveblender itself? Dawn Michele, try this:
Go to www.google.com (or simply type in google in your address bar, the computer should do the rest) & type this in the search bar: dawn michele site:loveblender.com

When you get to the results open the page and use the keyboard shortcut ctrl-F (or Edit/Find from your screen) then type in your name again. Voila! - you should find your poem.

Manslaughter is haunting. That movie was great! I love how you pulled your story through it. The scene in the truck at the end when he decides to make it his reality – I was so anxious to figure it all out.

Holly - ;o) thanks

Teej ~
Do Not Bend Me is so cool – I wish I could do that – give age to my words with language. I like all three that you put up. You really have a great feel for Old English speech patterns. I like this one, too: I Have Elected Grief - nine lines of pure inner torment!

B.K. ~
When the world stops
And nothing else matters
But you and I
Have you heard the Dave Matthews song When the World Ends? This reminds me of it…the ability to make yourself safe just because you are with the one you love. Thanks for the comment on Territorial Pissings.

Thanks Rhet, Madison. You guys are too kind.

Madi ~ I loved one, "one, one thousand, two"! And the title was great! And "Channel 7" is part of it too? Very nice! Reminds me what I miss because I have no current lover.

Jack ~ I'm not sure if you meant for "How Damned I Be" to be funny. But it kinda was. Reminded me how those domestic squabbles are so dramatic, but have those little bits of funny foolishness and pride that get stuck in there! Thanks for the giggle!

Inversion ~ all these memories invoked for me with the poems here lately! "Sunday Morning Grind" tastes like my time living in Seattle with my (then) new husband. Thank you!

From: Madison

thank you TJ, but nah ...those two weren't really supposed to be connected, wish I'd submitted them spaced a month apart or something. One is a positive view on the theme of lightning & thunder, the other is supposed to be a negative slant of the same theme ('one, one thousand, two' should have read "between our kisses" instead of "between your kisses" to make it clear the lovers are parted by either physical or emotional distance) - - but however anyone reads them, whatever they get from poetry, is good by me!

scqueen, you know what, I read your comment and thought, "how do these people remember when they joined the blender??"

... and then I actually thought about it, I joined the blender 2 days before my birthday, when a comment by Shadygirl caught my eye, she wanted to throw a birthday party for her brother (whose birthday is on day before mine) but her parents didn't want her too.... that was in 1998... *pulls a face*

Hi Gang...

I just posted the Beaulah thing---and I have a feeling a few of you are gonna read it and go "WHAT THE ****?" Gala has lost her pointy little mind. It's not fiction, but it's not simple fact either. Once, when I was in great need of emotional healing, I found myself welcomed by an unexpected faction of society---Gay men. For nearly two years, they welcomed me, made me happy, spoiled me, and treated me like a precious sister. I was 20---so their influence on my life, and my thinking was profound.

This is not a per se, romantic piece---but what I learned taught me to be who I am...I can think of men as friends, and even love them---without having to become their lover to do so. I was horrified by the death toll, when AIDS invaded their world. I was not TRIBE---I just loved Tribe. So forgive me Kirk---but they needed to be remembered, so I stole some space here to do so.

love, Gala

Sister Gala; When I was that age as well, my boyfriend got a job playing piano for Miss Virginia in the Ms Gay America Pagent. I had never seen anything like that before in my life..ha What a night that was. The place was called, 'Watch Your Coat and Hat' and I was terrified to even go to the bathroom. Ha But I was by myself, scared to do anthing more than watch, but what an eyeful that was and something you never forget. Thanks for your story, I enjoyed reading it.

From: TJ Holland
Date: 12 October 2001

Violet, at the top of any poem that is submitted, there is a linkcode. It is just under the date. It contains TWO brackets, some numbers and then TWO MORE brackets. Cut and paste all of the brackets and numbers into your message, and insert them at the precise spot you would like the title of the poem you are referring to to appear in your comment. It's that easy!

And GALA!!! Besting Beaulah Is fantastic! The content is, of course, exceptionally interesting, but, most importantly, the writing is skilled and precise. Very well done!

From: Kirk
Date: 12 October 2001

Perhaps I should have said, I *just* added a description.

It wasn't there before this afternoon. But you're not the first person to have had a problem with it...I probably hadn't notice how poorly the Linkcodes were doucmented, since I probably described better on the message board, but that was a long time ago.

Like I said, let me know if if the new description adequately explains it.

From: Galadrial

Wow......

You guys liked Beaulah!

I was thinking before I wrote it that every once in a while, we DO know why we are a certain way, or why we have some fixed attitudes. I was raised to loathe gays---but when I was my lowest, they made me welcome, and gave me back both pride and dignity. And they taught me about basic humanity. So much for the idea that they are a bunch of sissy boys in pink lace jumps suits who lisp!

But FYI----gay men do not all do drag. Beaulah was a hybrid. I might add that there are men who want nothing but women in their beds who also enjoy drag...so assume nothing! That was something else I learned from my friends...

It's not who you love---it's how you love...

So says Gala

Ok, I know I haven't commented on things in a while, senior year at college, it's like an ocean of knowledge and I'm at the bottom still trying to breathe.

But I'd like to take this time and read through past poems I randomly pick and just comment on them:

Squeen -
Rafaello's oh my God! I love this so much!
Autumn born... WHOA! You...I...I love love love it all.
Ready I'm going backwards through time here thinking...LOOK AT ALL I'VE BEEN MISSING! and this is just one person...sorry squeen, but I gotta go to someone else, but from what I see, ...you, my friend, are a beautiful poet.

Gala, gala, gala....whew...I can only read one of these hot numbers...tangible 24, WOW!...I mean, ...goodness...Dare I say I have been missing out very, very much. I think it appropriate that after your words had their way with my eyes, I get to know you better. :-) I mean, it seems the fair thing to do :-)

Violet - there's just something about i can love you that gets to me, I love the dripping honey down the spin, I think that's probably what it is. Either way, I love it.

B.K. - Just Being With You nice!! "flushed with infinity" definitely a great line!

Tanq - I really enjoyed Astrophysical 101: A Lecture on the Nature of the Attraction between Two Bodies. And moreover I love the title 10 fold because of my philosophy classes, it just seems appropriate. Bravo.

Michael T() - First of all, your screenname deal with the being able to tell how you're feeling and stuff, that is awesome, and I've wanted to tell you that forever, but...well...anyway, Ivory Tower is great. I honestly laughed out loud a few times in this and...totally understood and connected with it. I bow to your story telling abilities and poetic nuances.

Alright, 1 more, my beautiful lady friend poet, Ali.

Ali - It Isn't You is powerful. Luckily though I clicked and read but didn't even look at the title. cause when I saw the title I kept thinking "It isn't me..." like that Shaggy song and that's annoying, but other than that lol, I loved it.

Good...Great...Forget it Oh my goodness, I've felt this way one too many times. You nailed it, sweetheart.

Alright, that's about enough from me, I'll read more later, you people absolutely amaze me. Thank you for brightening my day.

I pass this house on my way to work and the entire front yard blooms thick with it. It comes alive, is on fire with color and I always have this urge to jump out of the car, strip off my clothes and lie naked in it.
But instead of taking a chance on being arrested, I just keep on driving to work :-(

Melancholy

Misti ~Croix de guerre is well done, sister.
you house my primal ecstasy
keep the fire lit
Ooh, yeah…I like that line. Where do you find these writers challenges you are always referring to? Am I missing them?

Galadrial ~
I hate to beat the drum that everyone has already pounded, but I loved Besting Beaulah. I really like when Blenderites change format and give a piece of their life. I once had a very good customer (whom I chatted with nearly daily back in college) with AIDS who talked about BA – before AIDS…my heart sunk when you used that exact reference. I miss his stories and his honest way of looking at things.

Kirk – I was peeping at kisrael.com and saw your pics of Germany. Don’t you love Heidelberg? I spent a couple months there back in ‘97. That is the greatest little German town. While I was there, the city had a celebration and lit the castle up with torches and spotlights – the red walls looked like they were on fire…I watched from a boat on the river… SO AMAZING!

From: Misti
Date: 14 October 2001

The glue thing reminds me of that scene in "American Pie 2"...too painful to be truly funny! And I like Michael Jackson's version of "Smooth Criminal" better.
Thanks to everyone who complimented me on *Croix de guerre*...I can't even pronounce the title. The original title was *Gold Star Balloon* but I was looking through my old New World Dictionary and thought Croix de guerre sounded better and had more meaning, more oomph. My husband certainly deserves a medal for putting up with me.
The writer's challenge is posted every Friday morning at http://www.projectgreenlight.com. It's a site founded by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck for struggling screenwriters. I don't participate in the community, I just get the writer's challenge list of ten every Friday. I usually turn it into a story but I'm bored with stories so I thought I'd try to write a couple of poems using the same challenge. You have to have a user name and password to get to the boards. The writer's challenge can be found at the basic forum.
Thanks again for the compliments! I've enjoyed reading the new submissions these past couple of weeks. Lots of good stuff.

Someone came to my site (http://www.angelfire.com/ab4/muises/suepoems4.html)and "stole" a poem. I guess it really doesnt take much, jus a lil' cut and paste, but to have your second half's words taken by a completely unisnspired surfer from Gods-knows-where..is a bit annoyning. Really, i guess i should copyright them all.

Im not laying blame on this site..i love the Blender and everyone seems to absolutely love each other...but just reading everyones poems gives me complete shivers on how bad mine actully are!! :)

take care

Some small new features for blender accounts:

* Each account now has an optional URL field for your homepage

* You can now edit your public e-mail, chat address, and URL. (For security reasons the private e-mail is not editable.)

* There's also a "I forgot my password feature". The thing is it's a link off the user account edit page... I'm not sure if that's the most userfriendly place for a novice user to see it, but whatever.

I don't know what St. Chrissy will do next. Maybe change his/her user name and submit more poems he/she didn't write. Ntozake Shange is one of my favorite poets and *For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Was Enough* is one of the most kick ass, brilliant poetry collections ever published. So when some idiot tries to pass one of Ms. Shange's poems off as their own, it kinda pisses me off.

There are ladies out here, on the blender, who have written to him via his e-mail, recently in the past few days, and in the very recent past, who he is betraying, by forwarding your love letters that you sent to him onward to me..... I do not know what is intent is.... or his motivation....
I am just kind of tired of his games.....
So ladies, please be careful in the future what things you write, share, or send to him......

TJ, Gala, Misti, and Kirk -
If some "writers" (I use the term loosely for this breed) are caught with their hands in the cookie jar blatently stealing from another writer - what can this site to discourage it? I know that inspiration is drwn from MANY places - but line for line quotations without credit is illegal and just plain shitty. Is there an action that can be taken to remove the posting or send him/her a nasty email alerting them to the issue at hand? Just wondering if this has happened before.

On to more pleasant topics...
Jubal ~
Since When is (pardon my excitement) kick-ass!! If I could explain how cool you sound right now - Wow. There is a line in a Tori Amos song: just because you can make me cum / does that make you Jesus? You are very well apt to express your emotions! Bravo, Bravo.

Stephen, Judge, Act, Score!, Inversion, Four A.M., and Laurel Ahlfeld , Upon Reading His Words are wonderful. Inversion, I am wondering where you get your inspiration – have you a velvety muse? Stephen – well, you romance the sordid details that I am too weak to speak. Laurel, I am new here so I haven’t seen your work – but all of your pieces today are amazing. I love your style.

From: Kirk, blender-keeper

I dunno. It's a tough situation in general. If given a specific directed complaint (with URLs of original and blender version) I can usually be persuaded to take action. I guess the trouble is knowing for certain that the original version preceded the blender version, I've seen some people rip off blender poets as well.

I've had a guy do a direct copy of one of my paintings and then post it to a painting forum I had also posted my painting to...

His explaination was that he thought that the artist was a famous artist and therefore it wasn't a problem... he actually said "if I'd have known you where a person and not a 'real' artist I'd never have used your painting"

go figure.

From: Inversion
Date: 16 October 2001

Rhetoric,
Thank you for the kind comment about Four A.M. My inspiration is my experience, my life, my mistakes, and one rather large mistake in particular which I can't seem to turn the corner on. My attempts to write poetry are centered in the moment, a particular experience, and are written in a short time. I don't do much word smithing (and it shows) preferring to let my emotions flow, besides I'm much too lazy to work on expanding my vocabulary.

And I was wondering...what's your story? Are you a runaway? (of course, this is a personal question and need not be answered if it makes you uncomfortable.)

Did ya get the card that I left for ya? I saw it and had to send it to you. If you didn't get it - well, someone might be tampering with your mail. I know I wonder why I never get mail anymore - I have surmised that it is because the postal service hates me! I just thought it would decorate your fridge.

When I first started visiting your page I read a poem that I absolutely loved. I wrote down the name of the poem, but I wasn't thinking and forgot to write down the author. The only problem is that when I visited your website the next day it wasn't there. I've been checking people's files to see who they wrote this awesome poem, but to my dismay, it's nowhere to be found. If you could be so kind as to let me know who the author is of 'Guitar Serenade' it would be greatly appreciated. I would've copied the "Linkcode" at the top of the page, but I don't understand what "Linkcode" you're talking about (maybe it's the blond in my hair!). Thank you so much! -air force angel

To Aqua Lady ~
I am sorry to hear that you were one of (unchained) Dark Angel's victims. But in all honesty, I was NOT one of his victims..... I have had previous experience with men like him, before he came along..... So I sensed the falsity, right from the start.... I never told him that I loved him, and I never gave him the parts of me that he wanted so badly.... that is why it did not last more than six days... because, I would not give him what he wanted.... And I am so proud and happy of that..... I knew he was lying to me from the very first words that he uttered to me.... When he directed me to the loveblender, to read the poems he had written for me.... I refused to.... but he kept badgering me.... and litterally had me logon to the blender, while he sat next to me.... When I saw a beautiful poem written for me and about me.... right next to a nasty poem that he wrote for the lady he dumped two days before meeting me (Scorpion She), I knew immediately that he was a game player.... I never took another of his words seriously..... Although he got to meet my kids....I had already told them that I thought he was playing games.... after meeting him, they agreed,.... especially because he made sexual advances to my daughter,.... and was bragging to my sons about his conquests,,,, and telling dirty jokes to them, which I felt was terrible.... Also, he lied to me, the first day we talked, telling me he was living with his sister,... which turned out to NOT be his sister..... but a woman who obviously loved him.... and was giving him a place to stay, and feeding him, and washing his clothes, and treating him like a king...... and all the while, he was talking about her behind her back to me.... putting her down, and making fun of her..... I knew that he was no good..... I also knew that he was already involved with you..... while he was still seeing me..... He generally is involved with at least three women at a time (or more).... when he was seeing you.... he was trying to get back with me.... He even told me your name, etc., etc.....He also told me that while he was making love to you.... in his heart he was calling out to me..... Yeah Right !!! And now, he is sending me correspondence from other women that he is involved with at the present and in the near past.... betraying them..... He as sent me about eight e-mails from eight different women, here on the blender. And each one thinks that he has an exclusive thing going for them..... If only they knew.... and not to mention the women on other sites that he is also involved with..... Quite a player for sure......

~

From: ~Harem~

To Aqua Lady ~
Ok,,,, I must confess..... In all honesty.....
You had wished that someone would burn him,,,, as he was burning all his other victims, including you.
I have a strange suspicion that I might have done just that.
It sounds very conceited on my part.... but I think it may be true.
When I realized right from the start, that he was a game player..... I allowed myself to watch and enjoy his antics, quite amusedly..... and I did cuddle and kiss with him....
but that only drove him crazy..... he tried every trick in his book to get me.... to seduce me..... to make me fall for him.... to make me believe him..... to get me to say that I loved him..... but I never would do it......
Not eight months ago...... nor recently..... when we went out on a few dates ...... he said that I was the most stubborn woman that he had ever known.... and likened me to Kathryn Hepburn......(I was not flattered).... But I am just one of those people.... who can stand firm even in a hurricane.... if I feel like that is the right thing to do or not to do...... My gut instinct, just would not let me give in..... But I did hug him and kiss him recently .... and I drove him bonkers.... And isn't it always what a person can't have, what they can't conquer..... that is what they want the most......
In the past eight weeks..... he has begged me on his knees....cried a bucket of tears..... given me a ring......(which I still have).... and thrown some pretty awful temper tantrums..... and even threatened suicide - to try and get me..... but I never gave in.... I stood firm....
I watched him and listened to him...... but felt nothing....
And so your wish may have already come true.....
you just never know..... But I figure he was only faking, and that he just deserved an "Academy Award" for his brilliant acting, and brilling poems.....

Wow...

Now I know why I don't watch soap operas.

Interesting...that people can fail to distinguish between sympathy, empathy, and what might actually be love. At another site I post to, a gentleman is putting in poetry that sounds strongly suicidal. It disturbed me, so I mailed him---with just the intent of saying "Hey fellow human---you ok?" It doesn't answer everything---but sometimes when you are scared or hurting, it enough to get you to the next day. And things look different again.

As far as love is concerned? Well, I make my coffee in a stainless steel pot on my stove...and boil it. Joe Di
Maggio convinced people this was a mistake 20 years ago, and we choked down some vile pee water ever since. Instant coffee sucks...instant anything is barely worth the thirty seconds you put into making it. (Instant grits....ewwwww!) I used a line once in a story...Instant is NEVER real.

So Says Gala

Here is another wise saying, though not so poetically put, regarding the sensibility of letting time take it's course in the matter of love and relationships..."Good things are worth waiting for". If someone is bent on rushing into your life unwilling to let things marinate awhile, disaster usually is in the wings. And let us all remember that once that magical someone has entered your life and heart to cherish every moment! (And be sure to write some great poetry about it for the Blender). Have a great weekend all.

Gala & Harem

I was browsing over blender comments, and just happened to spy by the message of instant is NEVER real....that kinda hit me by surprise. I guees just cuz I don't really agree.
(don't get me wrong, I do about the grits and stuff! yuck!)
But on the subject of love, I see instant love as real (I'm a love at first sight believer) but I don't believe that instant committment is. I think that's such a big problem these days. Most people mistake love for committment.
You can love someone and NEVER be committed to them in a relationship.
I think it's kinda funny you two were talking about this. It's sorta along the same lines of the advice I was giving my friend the other day at work.
You two keep it real (not instant) *grits,,blah*

I believe in instant attraction... instant infatuation... but i see love as an emotion developed over time. You love someone when you know them, and can appreciate them for who they are. You can't instantly know somone, at least not the "real" person... so therefore, i do not believe in love at first sight. However,I personally, really like instant oatmeal. And there is my small pocket of spare change. ;-)

From: Zero #1
Date: 19 October 2001

Violet

I really like what you said about infatuation.
The only reason I believe in love at first sight,,,is because
love knows no boundaries, it has no limits, it has no color, no smell, no taste. It's an emotion of timing. when it happens, it happens. It doesn't take into account of human life, what job you have, etc.
From there, I believe the process of getting to know someone makes that love deeper and solidifies itself.
(but there are no guarantees, the way I see it, it's all about timing!)
Infatuation is a feeling of the moment. Getting over infatuation takes time, say like getting to know someone, that can get rid of it.
But not love. Love only fades with time. It never wholly disappears. And if it does,,,,it was never love in the first place.
Gosh I hope this doesn't spurr on an apocalypic episode of hate/hate/hate stuff. It's my opinion. How does everyone else see it?
(hmm....very interesting!!! =))

*thanx for the post violet!)

To Zero#1 ~

I can be instantly attracted to someone....

But for me love takes time....

To me love is something you feel that is beyond the physical, sexual, attraction...
It is being attracted to the deep inner person of their heart... and that requires knowing them... which takes time.

I guess we are all different...

ya know, I've sat on this thought a long time. I guess this goes out to everyone who has to contradict everything that I put on the blender. It has to go out to everyone who will try to act childish and immature (no matter what everone else says) and to everyone who comes up with something completely stupid to say to me.
I really value everyone's opinion, but as far as love having taste, color, area, mass(?), I can see it as a metaphor,,but c'mon was it necessary to post it? I doubt it. If you can show me the dimensions of love then I'll give you a pat on the back, but until you can prove science wrong and give the power of love a physical aspect, will I truly say that you're "right". See, that's what this is all about. Not who's right or wrong, cuz there is no right or wrong when you're talking about love. It's a matter of circumstance. It'
s an instance of what's right at the time.
*sigh* I guess that everyone just doesn't see love as nothing but physical around here, no matter what you all want to tell me. Through all your poems and all your prose, the only thing that shoes is your devoted friendship to one another, no matter how many feet you step on along the way.
You guys can keep your physical love right here. I'll take mine far, far away.

Goodbye,

From: jackryhme

umm Zero don't take this too personal but my comments were directed at a number of people and they were only my opinion not the boards by a long shot k? as fer proof that it is what i say about the color mass etc... this blender has been here fer about four years at roughly 500 entries a month, new entries and new ways that people all try to describe what is truly only a chemical reaction, ah yes the science part, yet also they involve the paranormal and religious aspects as well in the attempt to poetically explain... now we could wax into science and carefully explain what parts of the brain is involved in love, what kind of chemicals need to be present but its not as much fun, pheromones now lol that gets to be more fun, dejavu can apply to love as well... or an orange.. how do i love thee, its as though this orange has a soul of which i would consume of thee all your myriad slices, mass ... um chemicals do have mass as well as describing the enormous weight of love yada yada yada physical?? lol who said anything about physical? heh lol all these chemicals and who says physical lol all these do is to affect the psyche now what is the psyche? so round and round i go which is probably why i write poetry... why do you write? heh childish lol i am old enough to be childish if i wish. hope you do stay as i kinda like your poetry as well k?

Halted, stood I in this my eternal path,
at a crossroad of sudden change,
for within my field of view
hove to a moment, an instant of bliss,
ethereal is the only name for this beauty
who, to my vision, came to spend a lifetime
in all my memories, shading all i know or care.
Sudden shock so shook my world
and shakes it to this day still,
as my eyes met hers
for an instant of hours.
I would say what i had scoffed
and never believed
came of a sudden so very true.
Two lonely souls touched
and in this touch found...
It does not matter what you would think true,
for i know as well as her,
our souls touched and found a whole
as our lips met mere moments more
in a touch, years later still fresh, new.

I know more about this man than maybe even you. I have an Uncle who was a police officer in the town next to where he lives, and as you know...in small towns... everyone knows everyone else. There are some extremely BAD things that dark angel have been linked to and one convicted of. My memories of love somewhere deep within."

"Labeling myself your blue angel,

Howdy Blenderific Peoples...

Just a quick question...I posted an email I got earlier today titled Green Dog Mantra. It was a goofy sort of posting - but I loved the sentiment. It has been erased from cyberspace. Am I crazy or did any of you actually see it on the new subs board? I talked to our Keeper of the Blender and he assured me he didn't remove it for being "too Chicken Soup for the Love Struck Poet-ish". Has anything like this happened to any of you prior to today - you post and then it isn't there? Please let me know if you saw my post...I swear that I saw it later this morning and now all evidence shows that I am crazy.

BTW - Arwen and Stephen - you newest subs are wonderful. I love your Agnostic philosophies in Oi, Stephen. Arwen...I envision your voice smooth and melodic...cuz that is how your words read to me.

Thanks for the compliment on my newest - I have been so mentally drab here lately. I need to exercise - this business of gaining a pound a week is NO FUN. What do you think of "Strange Little Girls"? The idea behind it was Tori singing all songs written by men - throught the mind of a woman. Her take on Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode was especially good, I thought.

Violet - kiwi princess...you are so kind to comment on nearly everything I post. Either you really enjoy me - OR my mother has you on payroll! I am enjoying your romance as well, you little cutie.

BK and Rhet~
Many thanks for the compliments on *That Special Surge*...I felt very desperate last night, like I HAD to write something I could be proud of. I received the winning chapbook from Nerve Cowboy yesterday...they're a zine based in Austin, I entered their annual poetry contest last year and lost...and I consumed the entire chapbook at work and felt like, Damn, If Only I Could Write Like This Woman. Her name is Lori Jakiela and the title of her chapbook is *The Regulars*

In case any of ya'll want to enter the 2002 Nerve Cowboy Chapbook Contest, here's the lowdown:
The deadline is January 30, 2002. The entry fee is $10. Make checks payable to Nerve Cowboy. Submit between 24 and 40 pages of work, cover letter (with name, address, biographical note, title of manuscript, and acknowledgements of previously published poems), and SASE with adequate postage for the return of your manuscript. Poetry and short fiction will be considered. First prize is $100 and 50 copies of published chapbook. Second prize is $50 and 30 copies of published chapbook. Third prize is lifetime subscription to Nerve Cowboy. Mailing address:
Nerve Cowboy/P.O. Box 4973/Austin, TX/78765.

I know that many of ya'll have contributed well over 40 pages of work to the Blender, so I encourage you to enter this contest! I can't think of a better reward than a chapbook! I hope the guppy is reading this, I think he should enter. And Michael T. and Galadrial and Dee and too many more to mention. Go for it!

P.S. Rhet, this bothers me that you can't find the writer's challenge! Go to http://www.projectgreenlight.com. On Fridays, click on "Community" and "Message Boards." You will have to create a user name and password. A list of forums will come up. Click on the top one, the basic project greenlight forum. You'll find the writer's challenge thread there most Fridays. I could make my own list of ten, and often do so when someone neglects to post the challenge, but the magic is missing 'cause it's my words, not somebody else's! Thus, not quite as challenging.

Good Day to All...
I am up before 7am to get a good seat at day-long panel discussion at one of my part-time jobs. I teach a college course at the local school here and The Surgeon General will be here today to speak about Rural Health! I am SO excited. In my profession, he is THE authority!! I just had to share my excitement - I feel like a little girl going to see NSync.

Stephen - Thank you or the latest coment - and yes, sometimes I like to push my vocab to make the hurt sound more tame. Simple Rejection of Your Offer, in Triplicate is intended to be read from the authors page (though I know it never happens that way) because it is a series of "rejections and arguments" written in 3 lines. However, the last three lines somehow came unglued...so I don't know what is up with that. The whole plot boils down to a man who wants to be with me...but is so void of passion and lust for me that his "offer" of life forever in diamonds is hurtful to me. I (and most people I am sure) want a person to become SO seduced and engaged by my body and mind that they can think and dream of no other...this man barely reaches a semi-boil. His advances are a blow to every ounce of self-esteem I have. That is why I reject the challenge, the comparisons to others, and the entire effort he is willing to give. Am I too metaphorical and not dexcriptive enough? I am glad you mentioned you were unclear...I welcome criticism and corrections...thanks, Stephen.

Rhetoric, off to see the wizard

Du'Doll ~ I'm hoping your most recent poem isn't based on a true event, but I'm afraid it probably is. And if it is, I want to help with a little unsolicited advice...I'm 31 and been in a couple of relationships that have experienced infidelities. I just want to tell you that staying with a guy who does this destroys your self esteem. You tell yourself that somehow you're not good enough for a guy to want ONLY you, and that's wrong. The problem lies within HIM. And most times, that guy goes on to cheat on EVERY woman he's with. And if you DID stay, you'd be in a relationship where you were always jealous and insecure. You'd possibly turn into a shrewish woman, always 'checking up' on your sig. other. Wondering where he is and who he's with. This isn't a respectable way to live. Don't you want a calm, mutually respectful love, where you trust the guy and feel protected? Your poem says, "Tell me what you want / I need to know something / I need to know the truth..." Well, Hon, you DO know the truth. He already showed you. Why put yourself at HIS mercy? Why beg him for truth when he doesn't know how to be honest? One of the most reaffirming things you could do is to gracefully walk away from him. Go on to be happy and sure of your attractiveness, and find a person WORTHY of your devotion.

I know none of this is the way I intended to explain it. It's not as simple as all that. But it's the best I can do in this forum with limited time and space. I just have learned a thing or two in life, and I wanted to help if I could. Thanks for listening, and I hope you can deal with what you're going through in a healing, dignified way.

Deep Peace of the Gentle Earth to You,
-Teej

Thanks Holly...

Actually, the title came to me first, when I was in the mood to write a ghost poem---it's that time of year---and I was feeling sort of melancoly. The title was a puzzle at first---then I thought, "No WAY there's a person called Sadly Lonesome---way over the top..." So i decided it was a place...and it pretty much wrote itself from there.

Every one has pet theories about ghosts---and if you claim not to believe, hey god bless. Meeting one will change your mind in one helluva rush, however. Anyway---thanks to Hollywood, and popular fiction, most people subscribe to the "unfinshed work" theory. Thanks for the feedback on "Mee-oow!". It was fun to write too, and ~mostly~ a joke, but of course, by the title, I acknowledge my own negative emotions in it too.

Always enjoy your writing; especially the plays on words. Palsy & Ravioli and Grapes are my most recent favs, though I haven't had much time to peruse of late.

FORGIVING is a great piece of work. It especially hit close to home for me. Congratulations for putting my very feelings into words in a way that I could not. There is, however, one mistake I think most people make. Whoever said forgive and forget was a fool. Forgive, yes. But remember, always remember. Lest the sorry SOB trick you into being a sucker yet again!

Violet ~
Have you seen the film the Wonder Boys? There is a scene in which a young, pregnant cocktail waitress ends up with the coat that Marilyn Monroe wore on her wedding day to Doe DiMaggio. She is standing next to her boyfriend’s black car while everyone (Michael Douglas, Robert Downey Jr., etc) is arguing. Peaches and Chicken reminds me of that scene – the nonchalant way this woman feels about something everyone else is making a huge deal over. Such serenity in that, I think. This is such a fun piece – I do like it so very much!

Starbright ~
All your entries have been wonderful. This our first..., however, is my favorite thus far. Also, Wrath is so powerful that I wonder from where it comes within you – is it heart or mind...or both?
soaked in tears from each angry blast – WOW.

Stephen ~
Oh, yes sir, Palsy rocks! You indeed do have a way with words and you should keep giving them to us. Such a metaphor…palsy on the heart.

B.K. ~
You must have the greatest romance. You consistently write sweet verse to your Darlin and share it with us all. How wonderful to be so bold and committed to put it all out there for everyone to enjoy. I hope your Darlin reads each one.

Everyone!!!
I need some help, of course I turned here b/c I knew ya'll would have some great ideas. For my boyfriend's birthday I am trying to think of several groups of 21 things that I can do for him. For example these are the ideas that I have already:
A list that say's "21 things I love about you"
21 ballons each with a note inside of things that I will do for him
21 flowers
That's all I have so far and I need more ideas.
I am trying to keep the cost down on this b/c the rest of his birthday celebration is going to cost an arm and a leg, so please, please give me some ideas.
Thank you sooooo much.

From: hollymccormick
Date: 30 October 2001

That's a good idea, I could wrap them up in some pretty (yet masculine) cellophane paper and tie it up with a tag that say's "to be exchanged for the real ones later".
Thank's, I'll def. use that one.

Thank you for "Forgiving". Anyone who loves has known pain and betrayal and you are SO right in saying that is costs more to continue to hate. The ability to forgive and move on is crucial. Thanks for that beautiful reminder.

Actually there is no grand opening, I just finally managed to get it online very late last night... its not all there, but it works, and I think it looks pretty good.

So have a peed at http://www.deevaa.com - feedback welcomed... I think.

When I work out how to access it, my new email address will be deevaa@deevaa.com. Either I'm not smart enough to own my own domain name and email address, or I can't for some reason access it at work, maybe it is a combo of them both.

Hola!
slug ~ thanks a bunch for the comment on Blonde Vampire. It was written for a certain blonde and I really thought the Blender community would think " what the hell is Rhet talkin about now? " Also, I know I didn't mention b4 - but your work is great. shattered and green eyed boy are amazing. I love how you construct your submissions. Why so few...any and all juice you can give will be greatly appreciated!

Just Some Girl ~
Well, you always give me sweet slaps of love for my postings (even the REALLY weird ones) and I do enjoy our banter. I only wish that all my friends shared our twisted sense of humor! You do "get" me...and I love that.

Wow...great lookin site, deevaa. I assume that beautiful honey on the front page is you? That is a great photo BTW.

"...the supposition that I am a vampire is false, since that is a name given to the dead who rise from their graves; whereas I am living..."

YOU, my dear, are a sack of skin and bones harboring a barren, dead soul...you live in your own hell on earth and it exists between your ears...

Ironic that a site I used to woo you has been used to stalk and torment the nicest guy you ever lost...I guess it was the only place the restraining order couldn't reach...

The only difference is that I never lowered myself to POST on this glorified chatroom of a website, the self-agrandising on this site is truly absurd and tragic...and quite comical. And a tee-shirt, fer crissakes HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I've watched this grand facade evolve over many months, and it only reconfirms ...I will always cherish the initial misconceptions I had about you. Too bad you you can't face your truths. You get what you deserve. Garbage in, garbage out.

Have a nice life. With this posting I take leave of this tiresome website. Post on, with all your multiple personalities, with your sickness...I am no longer a reader of this site! I'll gladly let all have their turn with you without care or thought! Stupid is as stupid does.

Amen.

Oh Dearest Victim of The Blonde Vampire…
I am so proud of you for speaking out. I am sure that you have been aching to have your wacked out rantings heard by someone. Does it feel good? Do you feel better to lash out and take release (far less damaging than constant calls and harassment) in public forum? I do hope so. And postings an entire work in French – ooh...I am impressed. Say, where did you go to school again? You need a life. If you are still so involved and affected by this special someone, why do you seek out her words, or her actions in public, on the weekends, and mostly when she is not thinking about you? I am so pleased to know that you are SO upset and moved by The Blender, yet none of it’s residents know or care what you are talking about. You are still so close to a fire that, sadly, went out long ago. You read too much into words, my friend. This is a site to express love and pain – not attack and aggravate. Why assume it means that anything is about you or directed to you? Sad, sad...
“Too bad you can't face your truths. You get what you deserve.”
It is you who are unable to face your own demons…it is you who are miserable and haunted by your past. You relive your mistakes OVER AND OVER.

I wish you peace and luck in life. If you need to waste any more time on this matter…you can email ME personally and we can arrange a time to sit down as gentlemen and discuss your concerns. rhetoricalone@hotmail.com
Heck, I only live a mile or two away – come over for coffee.

Last Friday I dressed up at work 'cause we had trick-or-treaters from different daycares come by. I wore a blue glam girl wig and fancy eye makeup and a Fraggle Rock t-shirt I bought at Gadzooks for seven bucks and blue jeans and my new black boots and lotsa bracelets! Today is also "dress up day" for the employees but I think I'll just be me. That wig frustrated the hell outta me. I have too much hair to wear a wig.
I'm sure you'll make a sexy witch! Save some candy for yourself.
...that reminds me, an AARP dude called up yesterday and said he needed a personal injury attorney because he bit into a candy bar and lost some teeth. I asked him what kind of candy bar it was. He said it was a Milky Way. So everyone watch out for Milky Ways. They can't be trusted.

Hi All...
B.K, jack, Stephen, Dark Wing, and Kirk...
I want to thank you all and offer my sincere apologizes for all the crap that was spilled on this site directed towards me. I didn't feel that this was the place to argue...but since I don't "really" know Vampy Victim personally (just know about his threats to a friend of mine in the past) I couldn't email him directly. This site does see its fair share of storms, I am just so sad that this time, I was directly involved. I know how easy it is to read something and make connections with the authors words - I do it ALL the time. Unfortunately, Vampy Victim assumed what I wrote was about him simply because we share the pleasure of knowing some of the same people. I sense insecurity! I am a kind person and I try VERY hard to stay out of other people's issues. I have proven that in the past, here. Please enjoy the day, I know I will!

Dee, congrats on landing your domain!

BlondeVampireVictim, yeesh. Get a grip. We find the blender board and the shirts entertaining/rewarding/whatever, and that's all that matters.

I'm probably going to end up deleting the french piece. This is primarily an English site, though there is some leeway, but for a big untranslated piece quoted from somewhere else, forget it (I ran http://babelfish.altavista.com/ on it, something about veneral disease and prostitutes. Whatever.)

Rhet,

No need to apologize. You did nothing wrong. The other party needs to choose a different, not-so-public forum for any issues he/she has. We do try to enjoy ourselves here, and it's a bit of a struggle sometimes with all the acrimony of late.

BlondeVampireVictim, I wish you peace, however you may find it. Living a life filled with hate harms no one but yourself.

Holly ~ there was a suggestion posted already. And I may have one... what about getting a calendar page for the month with big squares and write one thing each day, for 21 days, that you will do to/with/for him? That way he can look at the calendar and anticipate what he'll be experiencing next...and of course he can't help but think of you every day!

And/or massaging his body in 21 places of his chosing.

And/or lighting 21 candles (tea lights, maybe?) in a bedroom and he blows one out (without saying a word) for every time you can bring shivers to his body, till you end up in the dark ready for the full on earthquake at the end of his very special day (if he's not too drunk)?

Hope I helped...
