Happy belated b-day, Gala. I know I've been absent recently; I hope to be back commenting soon. Roger's playing games with me now, and it's been sheer hell. It isn't enough that he flew the coop with Surferboy Zack. No, he has to raise my hopes that there'll be an "us" again only to dash them cruelly. Someone just put me out of my misery. But Gala darling, I hope your day was a grand one. Maybe next year I'll jump nude out of a big cake for you! Or maybe not. ;)

Yahoo!.... Hey www.poetry.com looked kinda scamish at the beginning, but they really offer great stuff for starting poets, or just wordy people wanting to goof off. Look and click on the name at the top right corner of the page, and you'll see why I'm so happy and optimistic about the site!! ;-)

I know some of the talent that submits here is capable of getting a little $$$ and recognition too...I seriously think you guys should give their main contest a shot with your best 20 line poems.
Stephen, not to be a bitch...but i can't name a single poet who has ever seen a dime...though I know dozens they have "accepted". There are easier ways to get in print than to pay someone 60 bucks for a phone book sized anthology...and poetry.com had ZERO credibility with agents and publishers, so if you are even considering trying in that direction, I would not offer high hopes...
I stand corrected. COngrats Stephen, I did not mean in anyway to belittle your accomplishment...and your poem is grand---but the track record for these people is pretty goddamned bad. I assume you have a check or something for this?

Ok...I publically admit to being a total dork.

Stephen, I am sorry. I am choking on my own foot here.
Please forgive a semi-senile idiot.

Mea culpa.

Hiya Poets! ;o)

Happy Birthday kinda late, Galadrial. Hope it was FABULOUS! And on the subject of poetry.com... Might as well look up Heather Nicole Gregory, while you're there. There's two of us, but Mine's the only one with 'Fragments'. Yeah, I got published, but didn't buy the book. I figure I'll buy the book when it's worth the $70.

K, off to catch up again.
Just a few thoughts...
lulu: I really liked your latest post. The last line is like a lament...I loved the feeling it leaves me with.

Max: Oh, I loved the title, the flow, the remorse. Very picturesque.

TC: Your last lines are always great!
we are
predator and prey
you and I

one day you will consume me
just as you always have:

As for most of my comments on the board: I am a sucker for a great beginning hook (that drives the tone of the poem)and a closing pull (that makes me say Ah). The middle is important to me too...but I generally remember 1st and last lines!
Lol.. naw its ok Gala.. I understand.. No way.. I'm getting a degree in Meteorology...and I do theatre work. I was just saying it was possible to get some $$$ for your hobby.. I Haven't paid Poetry.com for anything... none of their books... the silly CDs.. nothing.. And yea, I'm getting $1000 cold cash(cold check)... Yea, you can't live off of just poetry these days, no matter HOW good you are. Most of the best modern poets are teachers--I've noticed. But anyways, nobody pull a La Boheme, but try submitting your best stuff to poetry.com and win some cash for your efforts..

PS _Never_ buy anything from them. Its just common sense. Unless you actually want your poem in a book or CD.

Tanq -- yer back! (and also presumably your front and both sides...) Thanks for the kind words on Shelley's Creature -- sorry I stole your Theme of Choice :) Next time you'll have to be quicker off the mark. As for yours -- mee-yow! Talk about cat scratch fever... I never could decide if I preferred the original (b&w, brooding suspense) or the 80s remake (great theme song and more sex). Choices, choices...
