On how I write (don't laugh, please)...
Well, I start with an idea which I generally toss about in my brain, thinking up lines and aspects of the idea, if I'm nowhere near my home computer. Usually it's something bugging me romantically (since that's what I've started writing about) - occasionally it's just an idea for a poem that hits me from the blue. Then some of my inspiration comes from stuff I read here, which is great. Of interest, the Medusa myth which inspired my Catharsis has bothered me from the first time I heard it when I was young because I thought it was a really unfair to women. But then, men have had more than their share of villains in fairytales too. I just felt like turning the tables on it... and everyone was going on about rocks and stones at the time... LOL.
Then when I write it out for the first time, I just let it pour out, however it comes out. Usually it has the beginnings of its structure, or its own feeling of how it's going to be structured (or I just haven't got a structure I'm really comfortable with yet?).
Then I look at what I've written, get down to the nitty gritty of looking at each line, playing with sentence structure, rhyming and counting syllables when appropriate, deleting extraneous paragraphs, etc. Still, I know I can only improve with time, and each individual effort suits me just fine.
If I try and force it, I generally write crap, but then I've written some good stuff just flailing about for inspiration (which is what I'm doing now)....

There's been some great works posted this month so far, I've enjoyed reading them. Great monthly digest too, congrats to all the front pagers!

Whitney~ Congrats on the job! My fella says they've emptied out just about every marine and sailor on your coast to be deploy, so jack may be on his way. I hope we hear from him soon. I'm running way behind on reading here, and just haven't told him how much I have enjoyed his last half dozen poems :( ..... Rennie
