It's also a great way to find out who your loved ones are, but don't be fooled by a self absorbed ego maniac...they sometimes care, but have a hard time focusing. It's your call to care what they say...ya know what i mean?

I've shed many tears over John Lennon. When I was a junior in high school I was a Beatles and John Lennon fanatic. I listened to John's songs in my room and cried for hours. At the time I bought the Christian mythology spoonfed to me by my parents and Christian friends, who all said John Lennon was burning in hell because he was an atheist. My brother in law still says he hates John Lennon because of his beliefs. Puke. I don't believe in any of that shit anymore, needless to say. We will always have his music and literature. I went to the Imagine memorial in Central Park a few years ago and thought it could have been a lot more...imaginative. It's pretty pathetic. We need more John Lennons in this world and less Billy Grahams. Amen.

I saw that memorial myself for John Lennon. Pathetic indeed. For someone and also a group that helped the rock n roll movement and put music in a place it's never been, i think something more then a big thing that says imagine would have been better.

They honor sports hero's in so many different ways, with parks, and streets. Why can't they do something better for john lennon?
I was thinking...
There should be a Loveblender meet up or something.
I'd say that Billy Graham and John Lennon are both pretty equally important, it is sad to see a comment like Misti's above. To say you'd prefer more Lennon's over Graham's is a sad commentary... especially since Billy Graham is one of the few really profound and relatively untarnished and un-corrupted preachers alive (as opposed to the likes of a Falwell or Bob Tilton or crazy Rod Parsley). Why is it so easy for people to immediately pee all over anything remotely religious? The Beatles were a good bad, but not religious leaders... one should not laud them or anyone as idols. YOU be your own idol, treat yourself with honor and dignity... such comparisons and musing about those guys is a waste of time and webspace.

And Misti, don't assail Christianity (or "Religion") when it is simply those people who distort or misuse it you should be railing upon. Religious blindness is just as tragic whether you bow to Vishnu, JC or John Lennon. It really shows a lack of understanding or intelligence, when I'm sure you're just hoping to appear ultra-hop or whatever. (Maybe you should check out some George Harrison) But offensive generalizations like that about people's religious beliefs and faith are just
UNCOOL. Who or what DO you worship. That answer could be quite enlightening...

Yeah, that's it. I'm trying to appear ultra-hop. Just call me the Easter Bunny. My religious beliefs? I believe religion is bullshit. I believe people use religion as a crutch/blanket/excuse to judge and condemn people whose belief systems they disagree with. It has been used as an excuse to wage war for centuries. It has oppressed women and it still oppresses homosexuals and those free-thinking liberals you love to use this space to rail against. I was raised Baptist and have tried out other religions. Haven't liked any of them. I like the rituals of Wicca but don't really believe in it. I'm going to start a church called the Church of the Royal Bitch for your enlightenment. Laws of the Jungle apply. I accept donations from anyone, even people who don't believe in me. Thanks.
