Yeah, Jack, I dig what you're aiming for, but astro backgrounds are ... I dunno, a bit 80s?

Also, have you tried saving stuff as JPG? I know there's a risk fine print will be blurry, but it might make for smaller files over all...

And don't get me wrong, I really like the word/image combos!
Re the Chart, Kirk: I think traffic is the key. When the blender started it was a one of a kind. Now there's AP and about a thousand other sites for poetry... none of which is what the Blender is, really: a small, and prestigious monthly chapbook of words of love. It's prestigious because there is an editor involved: it's not by "popularity" or by reciprocity. I think an increase in traffic will get you plenty more subs, frankly.

Advertising is good, you should maybe consider doing whatever ya need to to get Google hits, but the real key is word-of-mouth.

Maybe you could create some buttons for those of us who blog to link interested parties to the site? I've referred quite a few here over the years, after being referred here myself in late 1998 by the inimitable X... but a simple button graphic of the Blender logo would be a good way to get some more hits.

I'd happily link the Blender in my regular blogs, and even spend a lil time seeking out some decent blog poets to poke them in the right direction. (that's a hella offer, tbh, as it would mean wading through miles of drek to find the gems... but I'd do it for you, Kirk. :)

Nother thought: a monthly contest (no prizes, just a guaranteed FrontPage Pick spot? make it a theme, make up a quick banner button we can link up to... and create some buzz.

Hope that helps.

PS, thanks for the pick. :)

Question for everyone -

I was just curious ???

Is St. Patrick's Day always on
March 17 - every year ?

Was that date chosen because it was
his Birthday ???

or why ???

I looked it up - but didn't seem to
get the answers that I was looking
for.

Thanks
I thought it interesting that St Particks color was not green but blue and the original Irish flag was blue as well. It's in the article have a look-see.
