Rhetoric~~You even Sang to Me was absolutely wonderful. Two of the most lovely run-on sentences i've ever read. Gave me the impression that you didn't bother to stop and ponder till you got to the break in the middle, then you started again...

"in ripping from me the very dignity
that our moment did produce during what
seemed to be an eternity's dance of desire
on crisp sheets with lavender scents mixed
in musk and sweat and water and trust"

It was good... so very good writing. ;-)
That Special Surge is great. I like your Friday postings on the writers challenge. I still can’t actually find it on that website…but one day I’ll catch up!
/but tonight I will flower
perfume the stagnant swamp/
EXCELLENT IMAGERY…I like your style.
I liked The Easy Way. I think that certain quotes can help shape a person’s life if they choose to live by them. Also, I just gotta tell ya – porkbellies…what a great way to pull a reader in to the story than talking ‘bout porkbellies? You always keep me interested in what you have to say.

Deeva…there you go giving us words…you said you weren’t good with words, but all evidence to the contrary. She can paint, she can write, AND she lives in New Zealand – does she get any cooler? I say not.

Have a great day Blenderites,
BK and Rhet~
Many thanks for the compliments on *That Special Surge*...I felt very desperate last night, like I HAD to write something I could be proud of. I received the winning chapbook from Nerve Cowboy yesterday...they're a zine based in Austin, I entered their annual poetry contest last year and lost...and I consumed the entire chapbook at work and felt like, Damn, If Only I Could Write Like This Woman. Her name is Lori Jakiela and the title of her chapbook is *The Regulars*

In case any of ya'll want to enter the 2002 Nerve Cowboy Chapbook Contest, here's the lowdown:
The deadline is January 30, 2002. The entry fee is $10. Make checks payable to Nerve Cowboy. Submit between 24 and 40 pages of work, cover letter (with name, address, biographical note, title of manuscript, and acknowledgements of previously published poems), and SASE with adequate postage for the return of your manuscript. Poetry and short fiction will be considered. First prize is $100 and 50 copies of published chapbook. Second prize is $50 and 30 copies of published chapbook. Third prize is lifetime subscription to Nerve Cowboy. Mailing address:
Nerve Cowboy/P.O. Box 4973/Austin, TX/78765.

I know that many of ya'll have contributed well over 40 pages of work to the Blender, so I encourage you to enter this contest! I can't think of a better reward than a chapbook! I hope the guppy is reading this, I think he should enter. And Michael T. and Galadrial and Dee and too many more to mention. Go for it!

P.S. Rhet, this bothers me that you can't find the writer's challenge! Go to http://www.projectgreenlight.com. On Fridays, click on "Community" and "Message Boards." You will have to create a user name and password. A list of forums will come up. Click on the top one, the basic project greenlight forum. You'll find the writer's challenge thread there most Fridays. I could make my own list of ten, and often do so when someone neglects to post the challenge, but the magic is missing 'cause it's my words, not somebody else's! Thus, not quite as challenging.

Gala: I enjoy ALL your work, but Release of Breath was awesome. It had such a "cut to the chase" quality...what inspired it (if I may ask)?
