I am nursing a broken honker, and a shitload of embarassment.
I may be the only woman in North America who can fall on her face and break MY OWN NOSE.
DAMMIT.

I was in the middle of faxing some press info on my esteemed client to a Fox Affiliate when it happened. So I got up off the floor, grabbed a roll of paper towels, and kept faxing while I waited for the damned thing to stop bleeding.
Got the confirm sheet that the stuff went through---then waited for a lift to the ER.
They were very sweet there---but they thought they had a domestic violence situation. AS IF.
After the third gentle question about "How" it happened, I went off.
"Lady---if someone had DONE THIS, you'd have TWO PATIENTS---only he would need you a lot more than I do!"
and so it goes...
Gala--Ouch!! I feel a little better about not being the most graceful person in the world:)

Wow, Thanks! I am beside myself with glee. I was surprised at the front page pic - but even more surprised by the number of people who feel the same way about writing utensils. I am a Pilot Dr. Grip gal. I will settle for a Uni-ball Vision Micro - but prefer the fatter feeling of the Dr. Grip.
When those gel inks first came out, I was hooked. Now, however, I like the way plain old ink looks. And, I am glad to see that somebody understands that the pencil is not to be used outside of math!

gala... since i am new to this wonderful magnet i looked you up and read some very powerful stuff created by you. i sat for hours reading and re-reading. wow! hope your nose is better. just so you are not totally alone in the boat of embarassment, i recently took a tumble as well; in a room full of new people i had just met and in an equally BIG way. still have the bruises to prove to me it was not a dream i wish i could've had. although i did not break my nose, i did break myself of getting the social life with those people i had previously desired. obviously there are bigger and better things awaiting!

jon~ glad you enjoyed the site. Hemingway cared about how he wrote so meticulously that he left an additional space between each word as he typed (from what I've read). Octavio Paz wrote that each word has weight in poetry. Poets, on the whole, are intense wordsmiths. I am glad you enjoyed the recommended site.

Thanks Gala, Ali and ladyinwaiting on my "green" piece. As Kermit said, "It ain't easy being green" but I tried. Gala, I've had my nose broken twice in accidents. You take care. ER personnel are told to push in asking about how injuries happened. I understand it has saved some spouses/significant others far worse injuries in them reporting abuse the patient is fearful in reporting. It also gives the abused more power when finally reporting continued abuse for divorce or restraining orders, sad as that may sound.

Sea Glass is mysterious and wonderful. It swells and ebbs me in an extracorporeal fashion as Shakespeare's "Tempest" does. When you speak to me in real time there's Terra Firma levelness in all you say. But when you write poetry, my dear, you reach deep and visceral truths seemingly beyond your years and ken...or mine.
