FYI: if anyone here has emailed in the past 48 or so hours, the mail didn't get through, my server has been down and they didn't have a 'catch' service for email. Therefore after being email-less for 2 days, I received 2 emails when I finally could log in.

Not happy.

So, if you've emailed me recently, please send it again.

I hate being email-less.

Take care,
I am so distressed today...worked a trauma code on my sons friend...never imagined that in a life time...I ask for prayers for the parents, family and all the young friends that just graduated with him.....

ladyinwaiting~ yes, and also, please take the time to see to yourself, lady. We'll share the load with you on the heavy heart to help make it a bit more bearable. I've learned from personal experience that it is finally possible to handle that load ..... Rennie

Thank you Rennie...I know this brings up saddness for you as well...memories...I am sorry
I guess the hardest part is that your children see you as someone who can fix anything...and somethings just can not be fixed...it was so hard to look at my son and say "I am sorry, I am just sorry"...I never imagined when I took this job recently that I would be doing this very thing...God does have plans...and I have learned to not question them...possibly ...no...I was suppose to be there for a reason...that I may never fully understand...thank you again

Sorry to hear the bad news in your world...my children's friends have experienced similar and it happens too much too often...also, i am not sure how people in emergency rooms across the world, how they witness and handle the trauma cases...bless your heart...
Thank you Pam...I know this brings back fresh memories for you as well...it just is hard...so hard..I hurt for the parents, for the youth...and my heart breaks for my son that he has had to grow up so fast...welcome to adulthood...what a rude awakening...as far as emergency medicine...have done it for 22 years...and it is never easy...interesting sometimes, especially full moons...but never easy...you laugh at the good times and cry for the sad ones...thank you for caring...it means alot to me...

ladyinwaiting~ one of the best organizations, working with other organizations, to come out of the need for folks dealing in trauma situations, imo, is www.sidran.org for some real answers and pointing a direction to help children and adults, layman and professionals. I think the best thing parents and children learn is to comfort each other equally as human beings and not superhuman beings when real tragdy strikes. Helping seems to do more to help someone cope when hurting than to dwell on loss ... helps me even here, now. Writing a tribute poem (a form of love) is one of the best ways to remember the good to raise up spirits, not let memory sink into some deep abyss. You can hug them again and say words you didn't get to before ... no opportunity lost that way ..... Rennie
