Misti, on that Frank Zappa quote in
How Many Licks

"There are more love songs than anything else. If songs could make you do something we'd all love one another."
~Frank Zappa

compare that to

"What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?"
--High Fidelity

(or, thinking about video games...
"It is ridiculous claiming that video games influence children. For instance, if Pac-man affected kids born in the eighties, we should by now have a bunch of teenagers who run around in darkened rooms and eat pills while listening to monotonous electronic music." )

TUT...TUT...What a lot of sad people... the Lord God said " you will have no other God but me" ...And... "Do not tempt the Lord thy God".... In other words, do not attempt to predict that which the Lord has pre-ordained....sorry to be a wet blanket, but if you try and predict the future, your predictions will be shit on from a great height.... BE WARNED!!!!

Kirk,
Great quotes! I love "High Fidelity"...I actually own the video. I read Zappa's speech on censorship the other day and was hugely impressed. And I've been a Ms. Pacman fanatic since third grade. I've popped my fair share of Prozac, Celexa and Benadryl but I don't blame it on Ms. Pacman or those damn ghosts. Which reminds me...I need to go to the used bookstore and look for Valley of the Dolls. It's on my Must Read list. I'm not gonna get involved in any more anti-Christianity debates at this forum. Promise. Even though I am sorely tempted.

Gala,
That reminds me of the Desiderata, which I love. Thank you.
Wordley - My impession of God is that he (or she, or IT) is just a chilled out Dude.
Whatever way you name him or worship him, the message is the same. And ultimately, he created everything, including the universe etc.
Astrology is just another outcome of his creations. For me, astrology is just another perception of things.
Its not a religion. Nothing bad, I've always found astrology to be a peaceful guide.
And whats wrong with looking at things from every point of view and seeing what works best for you.
Erm, not bladdered, honest.
