I was born in the Year of the Ox. I'm an Aquarian with Virgo risin' and a Virgo moon and my sun and Venus in the sixth house, which is ruled by Virgo. I have Mars and Jupiter in Capricorn. Mercury in Pisces. Midheaven in Taurus. Moon in the first house, which belongs to Aries. This explains why I like to sleep a lot and abhor public restrooms and never tire of listening to Lou Reed's "Transformer." This also accounts for my candy cane mini Oreo addiction and Angelina Jolie fixation. G'day, mates.
I pay about as much attention to astrology as I do to air standing still. I don't figure the universe considers humankind of sufficient significance to align any heavenly body in an order specific enough to influence the outcomes of our lives. But that's one man's belief-everyone is entitled to their own system of comprehension.
I just had a thought about the names we choose to identify ourselves by.

Most of you just use a name, or a variation of (initials like BK and TJ, full name like Stephen or Jon, literary reference like Galadrial, and just plain creative wordplay like dragonfleyes or zero love).

I try to judge the personality by the choice of name. Lydia...is a name. But it isn't my name. I chose it from the old Muppets soundtrack, Lydia the Tatooed Lady. I wonder, if using my own parameters for personality disection, what that means.

Just a thought, Lydia

Teej, I'm sensing hostility. Something tells me you're a closet right-winger, girlfriend (Woody Allen = bad, astrology = bad, George W. Bush = good)--and I know a little something about closets!!! But it's all good in the hood--this here Blender's a big tent . . . Peace out everyone and PLAY NICE!!! ;)

elocution - I looked that one up in the dictionary! It actually means something. Thanks for the comment - I can't tell if "interesting" is a good thing or not. I was so pleased with how drifter turned out (got a front pager, too) that I haven't wanted to spoil my moment.

Bridget O - sounds like a Bond girl name to me - very sensual, French...you know.
jimmyallgrownup ~ Wow. You're really paying attention to the things I've been saying, huh? You remember them better than I do. I am not feeling hostile in any way, I simply have opinions, like Stephen and everyone else here. But yeah...I don't have much respect for Woody Allen's talent OR behavior, astrology has it's place but not as an excuse to cop out of making your own decisions (which should be based on wisdom and self knowledge) or to excuse your nasty tendencies, etc., and W. Bush has a tough job that he's being a stand-up guy in doing. That's all. *nice smile*
Very interesting, all this astrology talk. Not too long ago I noticed that all the women I've ever been in a relationship with, or strongly attracted to, were born in Winter or Spring. January through May. None were born in July or August or November. Not one in October or September. Odd.

Now, much of modern astrology reeks of Pseudo-science. I have no belief that the planets control our daily lives. But astrology was born of true astronomy. And how did man come to wonder about the movement of the stars and planets? To give us a clue about our place in the clock-work of the universe.

Astrology, I think, isn't about the heavens. It's about the earth, the earth that we are connected to, as all living things are. Our astrological sign describes the season of our birth and what was happening in nature at that time. Hard science tells us that the environment can have an effect on a developing fetus or new-born infant. We are then, in some tiny way, a product of the seasons. Those seasons can be precisely described through astrology.

What about love, then? Let's assume that physical attraction -- chemistry, if you will -- is a very important component of romantic love (at least initially.) That said, lets admit that there's a lot we don't know about that attraction, which IS literally chemistry. We know something of pheromones but not too terribly much. I think many folks who hang out here at (in?) the Blender would understand the importance of a lover's smell or taste. Pillow cases and old t-shirts, warm skin and soft lips and the like. If a complex biochemistry is responsible for love, at least partially, then can't our environment, as described by astrological nomenclature, be in some way responsible for that chemistry?

Anyway, that’s my theory and I’m stickin’ to it. BTW, the Tanqueray Cowboy is a Sagittarian soul and a textbook one in many ways (or so I’ve been told by people who keep track of such things.)
What is George W. doing that's so stand-up? Signing bills that diminish the civil liberties of all Americans in the name of a "War on Terror" (suspiciously resembing the "War on Drugs")? Establishing a Nazi-like "Office of Homeland Security"? Wanting to desecrate the Arctic National Preserve for a puny (in the grand scheme of things) amount of oil? Last time I checked, this Bin Laden character was still alive and air travel has become an absurd nightmare.<-end non love-related rant, delete at will, Kirk. . .

But I'm glad you like it under the tent, Teej. We're happy you're here too. An Aries? Ah! That explains it. Roger is an Aries and child, life with him can be a battle of wills at times. I'm Taurus myself, so if you can imagine a ram and bull fighting on the edge of a cliff, you'll get a pretty realistic picture of the two of us!
