Just weighing in here...

Bill Clinton is a f*cking idiot and the most shameful excuse this country has had for a President in my lifetime (and I worked for the first Clinton campaign and vited for him twice). A fraud...you should be ashamed that you STILL believe the con. Again, Bill Clinton is a disfunctional sad sorry disgrace - as an American and as a man. Bill Clinton was a farce, a hoax and a Kennedy-wannabee scumbag.

All these people griping and whining about the loss of our personal liberties are completely uninformed and unable to see people for who they really are. Apart from 9/11 (likely precipitated by Clinton's little bitch slap against Osama bin Laden when he lamely and unsuccessfully tried to wipe him out in the last Clinton term), I have personally felt no loss of personal freedoms whatsoever...nor do I know of any American who has. Lame mental masturbation is what all this political carping is all about. If you somehow think all this is about oil...well, THAT story may have been true when Dubya's daddy went to war, but it is a far too complicated issue to sum up as an issue about OIL. Maybe 20%...

So, are y'all too blocked to write about poetry or do all your pals disagree with you...leaving the LOVE Blender Board to become yet another boring venue for venting your obvious lack of understanding or knowledge?

Me? I'll GLADLY vote for George Bush again. He fucking kicks ASS...primarily because he has integrity and doesn't give a fuck about what you think. Liberals and Dems are nothing more than a bunch of sad dysfunctional crybabies, pandering to your overly emotional handwringing. Oops...so are republicans. Can't you keep the Blender free from all this bullshit? Here is an interesting concept - editing.

Bill Clinton..what a fucking joke.

Don't bother bitching ME out about all this..cause I give nary a rat's ass about Blender politics. How about writing some f*cking romance poetry folks?

Yeah, George Bush is a dummy. I guess that is why he is President...I heerd your mama was a dummy too. Guess it must be true. Yep, real freaking dumb. Yep, let's all be sure to spend a lot of time on this. Suddenly everybody is a world leader...or at least actors (just a hair short of pond scum)....

One-Nut! Glad to see ya back among the (more or less) living . . . But I must say I'm disappointed, my man. I never thought I'd say it, but you've apparently become a living example of the insidious rightward drift of America. Things have gotten pretty bad when members of our esteemed academe have begun putting on jack-boots and seig-heiling with the rest of the reactionary nutcases loose in the populace. Alas, it's happened before. If history has shown us anything it's that intellectuals are as likely to sell their souls to corporate interests and the forces of reaction as anyone - MORE likely, in fact. Anyway . . . 'nuff said about all that! How are things goin' with JSG? Her and I corresponded briefly a while back, but only because she thought I was you for some reason. Seems to be a pretty common thing. Rhettie's been AWOL too. What's going ON there in West Virginia? Did ya'll sink into Lake Erie? Hope the gang is well, though. Also hope you've exorcised those demons by now. Like Papa Hemingway said to me once aboard the Queen Elizabeth II in reponse to a question I'd impudently asked him, "Pauline? She was just a woman. But this Bacardi is RUM." And with that he threw back a shot as the setting sun glinted fiery in his sad, worn-out eyes (alas, he was not to live the year). So . . . moral? It's all good, comrade. Just take it easy here in this space. We're all slumming, after all. ;)

I think the possibility of ever having a truly fulfilling conversation on this board about anything BUT poetry is extremely slight...so I think I'm just going to stay out of everything politically debatable before I snap and lecture about some of the moronic comments I've read on here of late.
I don't want to open any opportunity to hurt anyone.
So yea enough talking about 'curious George going apeshit' for me.
i know this might be a long time coming, but i just read your poem>>HEARTS OF BIRDS AND CHILDREN>> the writing itself was wonderful, but the title you gave it is what sticks with me the most..does anyone else know what i mean?? when sometimes the title..first line..last line, is what really drives the nail in, or am im utterly alone on this one??
Stargazer ~ I think I do know what you mean. There is a point in every writing (or should be?) that packs the punch. Something that grabs. When it's the last line or so, I have to go back and read the whole thing again. lol!

Anyway, thank you for your kind comments. And just for interest's sake, Hearts of Birds and Children is about my reaction to the book, "To Kill a Mocking Bird". I wrote the poem after reading that book for the 7th time. lol!
"Can't you keep the Blender free from all this bullshit? Here is an interesting concept - editing" -- I am not this Board's Nannny. More to the point, the more you edit, the more liable you are if someone posts something someone elses considers libel or slander. Unfortunately, in the past I've had to take action and close accounts, but I prefer to stay out of that scene.

George Bush isn't dumb but I think a reasonable case can be made for him being what the AA folks call a "dry drunk"--his years of fast living (you know, "youthful indiscretions" though he wants to lay the smackdown on substance abusers who are much younger than he was) have probably taken a measurable toll on his mental acuity--and especially his emotional health. (His verbal gaffes aren't just cute little slipups, but they aren't a sign he's a total moron either.)

But anyone so quick to divide the world into "good guys" and "bad guys"--that is *really* dangerous.

Too bad we have such a screwed up elecoral college system, other wise the guy who received more votes would have won.

Al Gore is All Bore...and Tipper shoulda quit back when Frank Zappa was bitch slappin' HER. Thankfully, Gore won't run again because THAT would prove conclusively that HE is a dumbass...and he actually DOES have a modicam of intelligence and morality.

Yeah, LOTS of siegheiling going on around here. This is a real police state, I can't even go outta my house anymores. I can just stay home and watch The End Of Intelligence on TV (aka that heinous Victoria's Secret ho-fest or maybe The Bachelor - conclusive proof that we Americans currently enjoy the widest freedoms ever conceived upon this planet - the freedom to act like a bunch of freaking hicks and idiots).

Actually, I appreciate all the venting and communication (here and in the world) cause it simply provides a person evidence with respect to whom one should avoid at all costs. Thank god people wear their hearts and smarts on their sleeves - helps you figure out who's who. So you can avoid 'em. The "rightward drift of Amerika?" Drift? Nope, most Americans are pretty centrist moderates, totally driven by media, advertising and popular opinion and (so called) conventional wisdom. It's all the freaks and insane and damaged and exhibitionists (and the alcohol heads) that keep causing the majority of the country to spiral out of control...

so we can have sexchange surgeries and access kiddie porn and live out of a deep commitment to greed and avarice. Thank you, Liberal Lefties. Kirk, don't you realize that Sushi is One Nut Jim/Mark McNabb/Derlict Daisy, etc., etc. - i.e., the joker you've shut down time and time again in the past? All those personages are the same emotionally-disturbed professor from West Virginia. Perhaps you already know this; didn't think it would hurt to throw it out there, though. Stephen~ "Let Things Flow" was amazing. i can't really point out what i liked so much about it it has some sort of obscure amazingness or somethign i guess

Zero Love~ i think that it is possible to stay friends with them if you really want to work it out but you both really have to want to stay friends because it cant just be one person giving all the effort and the other tagging along behind, now if you add to the fact that the other person hurt you, then thats a toughie. i dont think its possible to be as good of friends but maybe still friends. its all depends really but i think it rests upon if both people want to be friends an equal amount.but they're are extenuation circumstances to every situation.
As someone whose college degree is in Political Science, I am bemused by the talk of politics as if it really matters (to the powers that be, it doesn't). It's the Age of Mediocrity, folks, and it doesn't matter which delusional fool is in charge, they are all puppets in one way or another (except hands are in pockets as opposed to being on strings). This is all I have to say about that.

As for the war business, I think it is important to separate the people who are actually making the sacrifices for the rest of us from the so-called leaders who 'run the show.' THESE people (Americans in the Armed Forces) deserve every bit of our thanks and support.
I just wanted to post, that while I can't say for sure it is the best christmas story ever writen, this is a book to read. It is short (like 100 pages give or take).
I believe it is called The Gift (or The Present or The Christmas Gift, but you get the point). If you are not moved,I believe you are heartless! Sorry, it was in storage, and they kind of thought I needed to give them more money, so no author, and no definite name. Just a broke women telling you this book is excellent.
