The Blender Survey Question

Have you ever read poetry (not necessarily yours) to someone you loved? How was the experience?
B.K. No, but I know it will be wonderful to read his face and eyes as I read the words written to him. Or to read anything at all to him, even the grocery list ha. Maybe we can get past Beans and Rice before we attack one another. ha.
RennieLorca Hummm, you also impulse buy at the grocery like us, B.K.? "Beans and Rice"...you two are tough. We haven't made it past almonds and asparagus :) ..... Rennie
RennieLorca .... we did get to "battery" once, B.K., but that caused us a whole 'nother set of problems :) ..... Rennie
Misti Oh, yeah. I've read poetry to every lover I've ever had, not counting the drunken, ill-fated flings. I've read mine and the poems of my favorites...Bukowski, Ferlinghetti, Corso, Plath, Sexton, Jong, etc. The experience is always favorable. It's connecting on a mental and spiritual level, because church for me is sharing great writing/art/ideas/music with someone I adore. There is nothing holier than that.
muryan I agree with Misti. Although I haven't actually read to them, I have given them things to read. The results have always been favorable. :)
Champagne When I was in the dating scene - I had several Personals
ads on the internet. Frequently, I read poetry on the
phone to my new beau before we met. The effect on him
was so provocative and strong - that without meeting;
he would swear he was in love with me - A very undesirable
effect in my estimation. It only proved to me the power
of the written word. I learned to cool it with the poetry
before meeting a future beau. Much safer that way.
Shaun Jones Hey this goes out to everyone I just love all of your work I'm sorry for not writing very often but I've been busy lately and now I'm back Even though my work isn't very known I feel deepfully greatful that it is amoung legends which is what all of you people are Thank You and keep writing
Chrissy Yea...It was me expressing how I was feeling at the moment about our relationship, something I thought he and I could handle. He stopped talking to me for a week and then ended the relationship and all other forms of communication with me. I love writing and reading ym poetry, especially since it's how I express my feelings the best, but ever since then(it's going on a year) I've been hesitant.
Jon Yeah I've read poetry to women I loved, and got typical reactions. The most memorable was the time when I read some poetry to my friends. They asked me why didn't it rhyme, I smiled and asked for a beer.
Kirk Hmm. Probably not, or not enough to make it memorable.

Which is kind of sad given how I'm the Blender-Keeper and all.

I've written some neat things on dormroom msg boards though.
Violet I've never read poetry out loud to him... but maybe I'll try sometime. Once though, waaaay back in the beginning I sang him a song in the shower. It was Shawn Colvin's "I don't know why..." I think he was moved. :-) Does that count?
kevin urenda Neruda...
