| Misti | It reminds you to cherish the people you love. Animals, too. If it weren't for Valentine's Day, people would not know to give chocolates and roses and other sweet reminders of their affection to their mates and children and other family members (there are cards for everyone, ya know). People would not give special bones to their dogs, special whatever cats like to their cats, toys to their hamsters. We need Valentine's Day to remind us of this and so much more. I'm being facetious if you can't tell. I really like Valentine's Day...the colors, the possibilities, the excuse to buy goofy gifts for the One you Love. I give in everytime. I really really like heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, tacky and trite as they are. When they're empty you can store things in 'em, like love letters from Kurt Cobain and Billy Corgan (if you're Courtney Love). |

| jolee | The best thing about all the stupid cards with the seemingly heartfelt but truthfully soul-less messages, the little white teddy bears holding tiny red hearts both of which are probably destined for dark, dusty closets or yard sales, and the flowers that will surely wither and die - the best thing about all of this is that I get to make fun of it. And that it reminds me that originality and sincerity are still the best gifts for someone you truly love. |
| snapperhead | The fact that I can look my boyfriend in the face, tell him that if can't show me he loves me every other day out of the year that I don't want a gift, and he still gets me a gift anyways. Not flowers, which will die but chocolate that I love. Practical things that he would get my anyways is what I got - a locket to wear all year round with a real 4leaf clover to always bring me luck and a tuner for my guitar since I don't have one. He's the best guy ever. |
