Hi Gang...

I just posted the Beaulah thing---and I have a feeling a few of you are gonna read it and go "WHAT THE ****?" Gala has lost her pointy little mind. It's not fiction, but it's not simple fact either. Once, when I was in great need of emotional healing, I found myself welcomed by an unexpected faction of society---Gay men. For nearly two years, they welcomed me, made me happy, spoiled me, and treated me like a precious sister. I was 20---so their influence on my life, and my thinking was profound.

This is not a per se, romantic piece---but what I learned taught me to be who I am...I can think of men as friends, and even love them---without having to become their lover to do so. I was horrified by the death toll, when AIDS invaded their world. I was not TRIBE---I just loved Tribe. So forgive me Kirk---but they needed to be remembered, so I stole some space here to do so.

love, Gala

Sister Gala; When I was that age as well, my boyfriend got a job playing piano for Miss Virginia in the Ms Gay America Pagent. I had never seen anything like that before in my life..ha What a night that was. The place was called, 'Watch Your Coat and Hat' and I was terrified to even go to the bathroom. Ha But I was by myself, scared to do anthing more than watch, but what an eyeful that was and something you never forget. Thanks for your story, I enjoyed reading it.
Kevin Urenda has volunteered to be the surveykeeper. For now I'm suggesting we keep up with going through Gala's big 20 list, though it'll be up to him ultimately. So suggestions for questions should go to him.

We started it in the middle of last week, perhaps we should plan to make a Wednesday is new question kind of thing?

Violet, at the top of any poem that is submitted, there is a linkcode. It is just under the date. It contains TWO brackets, some numbers and then TWO MORE brackets. Cut and paste all of the brackets and numbers into your message, and insert them at the precise spot you would like the title of the poem you are referring to to appear in your comment. It's that easy!

And GALA!!! Besting Beaulah Is fantastic! The content is, of course, exceptionally interesting, but, most importantly, the writing is skilled and precise. Very well done!

It wasn't there before this afternoon. But you're not the first person to have had a problem with it...I probably hadn't notice how poorly the Linkcodes were doucmented, since I probably described better on the message board, but that was a long time ago.
Wow......

You guys liked Beaulah!

I was thinking before I wrote it that every once in a while, we DO know why we are a certain way, or why we have some fixed attitudes. I was raised to loathe gays---but when I was my lowest, they made me welcome, and gave me back both pride and dignity. And they taught me about basic humanity. So much for the idea that they are a bunch of sissy boys in pink lace jumps suits who lisp!

But FYI----gay men do not all do drag. Beaulah was a hybrid. I might add that there are men who want nothing but women in their beds who also enjoy drag...so assume nothing! That was something else I learned from my friends...

It's not who you love---it's how you love...

Ok, I know I haven't commented on things in a while, senior year at college, it's like an ocean of knowledge and I'm at the bottom still trying to breathe.

But I'd like to take this time and read through past poems I randomly pick and just comment on them:

Squeen -
Rafaello's oh my God! I love this so much!
Autumn born... WHOA! You...I...I love love love it all.
Ready I'm going backwards through time here thinking...LOOK AT ALL I'VE BEEN MISSING! and this is just one person...sorry squeen, but I gotta go to someone else, but from what I see, ...you, my friend, are a beautiful poet.

Gala, gala, gala....whew...I can only read one of these hot numbers...tangible 24, WOW!...I mean, ...goodness...Dare I say I have been missing out very, very much. I think it appropriate that after your words had their way with my eyes, I get to know you better. :-) I mean, it seems the fair thing to do :-)

Violet - there's just something about i can love you that gets to me, I love the dripping honey down the spin, I think that's probably what it is. Either way, I love it.

B.K. - Just Being With You nice!! "flushed with infinity" definitely a great line!

Tanq - I really enjoyed Astrophysical 101: A Lecture on the Nature of the Attraction between Two Bodies. And moreover I love the title 10 fold because of my philosophy classes, it just seems appropriate. Bravo.

Michael T() - First of all, your screenname deal with the being able to tell how you're feeling and stuff, that is awesome, and I've wanted to tell you that forever, but...well...anyway, Ivory Tower is great. I honestly laughed out loud a few times in this and...totally understood and connected with it. I bow to your story telling abilities and poetic nuances.

Alright, 1 more, my beautiful lady friend poet, Ali.

Ali - It Isn't You is powerful. Luckily though I clicked and read but didn't even look at the title. cause when I saw the title I kept thinking "It isn't me..." like that Shaggy song and that's annoying, but other than that lol, I loved it.

Good...Great...Forget it Oh my goodness, I've felt this way one too many times. You nailed it, sweetheart.

Alright, that's about enough from me, I'll read more later, you people absolutely amaze me. Thank you for brightening my day.
