Hey, Misti writes some good things occassionally (I've even said so before), I just wish we didn't have to read all her postings boasting of breakups, divorces, passing on prescription meds to others illegally, bad behavior and all that. And as I said long ago, I certainly wouldn't waste any of my creative work on a free site with nary a copyright protection... that is why a lot here really oughta be shared with a therapist, not publicly for all to read (posing as "art" or literature).
I was particularly sickened by Misti's posting on the Board post-marriage (knowing her ex and y'all are reading) about all her new conquests, self-destructive behaviors, and new guys or gals or whatever. Who the f*ck cares? It is either self-love or self-loathing, but not art. Just boring and typical, when it should really just be shared with a minister or therapist...
I post here "in character(s)" because I can, by design of this site's creator. Just like lots of you (MyTwoCents is my current fave). I post whatever I want in hopes that Cap'n Kirk would tighten up this site, but he never does. If you paise porn, I'm gonna post. If you post stupid things about our country or President, I'm gonna comment like a bastard. If y'all are enabling sick people by praising bad behavior, I'm gonna bitch about it. And if you can't see the difference in the persistence and more malicious intent you and your merry band post with, than you're as retarded as you are annoying. Notice how no one else uses more than maybe 2 accounts...or if they do, they're smart enough to keep it quiet, and not do stupid human tricks like consistently following a post with a "me too!" post written with a different account. You're "different". You're "special". You have gone that extra mile to earn my disdain and the contempt of everyone else on this site. I'd close down the blatant Cap'N MPD accounts, but it's a pain to make it so you can't just pop up again, like fruit flies. To effectively do that I'd have to risk shutting out other people who might want to start an account.
I've been on a number of listserves, bulletin boards etc, and I've heard about many many more from friends and colleagues. As far as I can see, the folks here have handled the sock-puppet issue better than most -- with a little frustration but with much more grace and humor.
I honestly don't understand the motivation behind sock-puppet behavior -- having had a lot of experience with young children it reminds me strongly of the actions of a lonely/bored child desperate for attention. Kudos to Kirk and others for your forbearance and patience!!

A word about "democracy".
It differs from anarchy...and by gum, this IS Kirk's board.
I have run into "board wreckers" multiple personality mutants who go to poetry boards, chase off the talent, then leave the place a husk.
I have watched one such lulu work three different boards---two no longer exist. One of the owners was loathe to "censor" the guy...even after the hardest line free speecher on her staff begged her to.
The staff of 20 disappeared...and then the posters. Now the site is dead.
Why people do that is beyond me...but I am glad Kirk keeps an eye on this place.
i love the way all of you explain the schizoid, ignore him, maybe that will work, he really is like clock work though...shows up around the full moon, or at least right before...sounds like the meds need to be adjusted, however we have suggested that a number of times, some people can never take good advice much less a hint...

So sorry to hear about your friend. My condolences.
You make an interesting point about democracy, one with which I'm in agreement.
Our freedoms of "expression" are often misunderstood. There is no constitutional guarantee that we can say anything we want, in any way we want, with impunity. The first amendment addresses the freedom of speech and, seperately, the freedom of the press.
There's an old adage that's worth noting here: "the freedom of the press belongs to the one who owns the press." This is Kirks press and no one elses. He is well within his rights to limit any expression on this board if he is so inclined. His is the right -- and perhaps the difficult duty -- to protect this, his twenty-first century printing press.
Hopefully, this little tangent won't get me banished to the Politics Board!
