Yes and no. You're the one who took what was mostly a conversational thread about current events and made it into a rant about the death penalty. You're the one who has been on the Politics Board and know what belongs there and why. You know you're on my watch list and you know why.

Spangler:
Why don't you have a Big Glass of Shut The Hell Up until you post something besides quoted politically-tinged screeds? You have a LOT of nerve telling one of the stalwarts and respected poster--someone who built her reputation with some seriously kickass writing--what she should and shouldn't do on the Blender.

Seriously...maybe this is more on the Politics board, but I have it up to here with this persona playing "netcop" to get the Blender on topic when its added so little to anything but the Politics board.
...trouble with prescription meds? Don't know what the hell you're talking about there. The only trouble I got into with prescription "meds" (Celexa, to be precise) was losing my libido. As for the rest of it, I've always been an open book at this site. I was vocal about my divorce and won't apologize for any of it. I've contributed original poems here since '97. You've contributed bile spewing American flag waving Bush ass kissing Pollyanna political views that only the very religious and very rich agree with. You loathe the people who post and write here so I'm not sure why you continue to hang around. It's not worth figuring out.

IN THE NEWS
"The Who may be returning, again. In a posting on his Web site, Pete Townshend says that he and singer Roger Daltrey are planning to get together for the first Who studio album in over two decades."

I wonder if it will be a remake of The Kids Are Alright?(insert your favorite "Pete Townsend loves kiddie porn" joke here, the scumbag)

Hey, Misti writes some good things occassionally (I've even said so before), I just wish we didn't have to read all her postings boasting of breakups, divorces, passing on prescription meds to others illegally, bad behavior and all that. And as I said long ago, I certainly wouldn't waste any of my creative work on a free site with nary a copyright protection... that is why a lot here really oughta be shared with a therapist, not publicly for all to read (posing as "art" or literature).

I was particularly sickened by Misti's posting on the Board post-marriage (knowing her ex and y'all are reading) about all her new conquests, self-destructive behaviors, and new guys or gals or whatever. Who the f*ck cares? It is either self-love or self-loathing, but not art. Just boring and typical, when it should really just be shared with a minister or therapist...

I post here "in character(s)" because I can, by design of this site's creator. Just like lots of you (MyTwoCents is my current fave). I post whatever I want in hopes that Cap'n Kirk would tighten up this site, but he never does. If you paise porn, I'm gonna post. If you post stupid things about our country or President, I'm gonna comment like a bastard. If y'all are enabling sick people by praising bad behavior, I'm gonna bitch about it. Kirk actually acquiesces to Bored pressures (hence the ridiculous "Politics" page, totally dominated by the drunken angry rantings of BK) - if I was Kirk, I'd cancel every poster who submits more than about 2 or 3 questionable or off-topic items... but NO! So don't bitch at post-ers you dislike or disagree with - blame Kirk - it is HIS site. Acting all high minded and "democratic" when he should run this more like a business (or more like an actual EDITOR). All in the guise of promoting free speech - but clearly that is not the case, 'cause y'all bitch about anything you dislike here. And Kirk does nothing about it.

So again, place the blame where it is most deserved - KIRK.

I'm a believer in the quaint notion that the preferred solution to bad speech is good speech, not censorship.

In general, I despise feeling coerced by assholes like you. You asked me to delete your accounts before. I did that. I've had to take more serious measures before when you were flooding the board and rendering it unusable. Why the hell do you do this, dude? Seriously? You're so god-damn self-righteous. <<Oh, I'm just being an ass because I checked on the guidelines for using the site and it didn't say not to be an ass.>> What kind of reasoning is that?

If memory serves this is all a smokescreen anyway. God dude, I see you talking about this site in Jaunuary 2002...almost 3 years ago! "Final bit of advice - most of you should be copyrighting your works and NOT wasting them for free on the internet. If I could afford it, Kirk...I'd buy this site and shut it down." You know, you don't give up copyright by posting here. That's why there's never been a "best of the blender" book, the work needed in tracking down all the authors...

"All in the guise of promoting free speech - but clearly that is not the case, 'cause y'all bitch about anything you dislike here. And Kirk does nothing about it."

And if you can't see the difference in the persistence and more malicious intent you and your merry band post with, than you're as retarded as you are annoying. Notice how no one else uses more than maybe 2 accounts...or if they do, they're smart enough to keep it quiet, and not do stupid human tricks like consistently following a post with a "me too!" post written with a different account. You're "different". You're "special". You have gone that extra mile to earn my disdain and the contempt of everyone else on this site. I'd close down the blatant Cap'N MPD accounts, but it's a pain to make it so you can't just pop up again, like fruit flies. To effectively do that I'd have to risk shutting out other people who might want to start an account.

I've been on a number of listserves, bulletin boards etc, and I've heard about many many more from friends and colleagues. As far as I can see, the folks here have handled the sock-puppet issue better than most -- with a little frustration but with much more grace and humor.

I honestly don't understand the motivation behind sock-puppet behavior -- having had a lot of experience with young children it reminds me strongly of the actions of a lonely/bored child desperate for attention. Kudos to Kirk and others for your forbearance and patience!!

~Kirk maybe we need a personal vendetta board, sure seems like very few on this site care to police themselves. Like young children that are out of control they choose to sling crap anywhere and everywhere and I don't see it as your responsibility to ride rough-shod over these certain malcontents. If this is the way they chose to conduct themselves by all means let them, they'll probably tire of themselves soon and fade away, and those that accept this place for what it is truly intended may continue on unincumbered...

To our In-House-Freak-n-Schizo: You really do need a life. I wonder if you do get some ego-boost out of these antics. If you do, you are fooling yourself about your prowess and abilities here. And you are certainly fooling yourself about your effectiveness in making any sort of difference in our thinking. From what I can see, you manage to make people hold tighter to the opinions that you so desperately want them to change. I have managed to ignore you as I ignore the fruit flies Kirk likened you to. I see you, sometimes I hear you, but not often because mostly you're a very very tiny, very insignificant annoyance. You are far too full of yourself and your imagined importance here. You are not even important enough to shut up. Do you realize that in this country, the people who pose REAL threats to the status quo are somehow silenced eventually? And the ones who aren't, because they are too visible and well-heard, have a loyal following of people who AGREE with them. The only agreement you receive here are what you post yourself, under different names. By your own admittance you have been babbling here in one form or another for YEARS with no-one paying more attention to you than to, once in a while, slap your pitiful arse like a fed-up parent would to a naughty, noisy child. Do you see how inconsequential you are? You aren't erased off this board involuntarily because Kirk isn't a dictator and you aren't important enough to worry about.

A word about "democracy".

It differs from anarchy...and by gum, this IS Kirk's board.

I have run into "board wreckers" multiple personality mutants who go to poetry boards, chase off the talent, then leave the place a husk.

I have watched one such lulu work three different boards---two no longer exist. One of the owners was loathe to "censor" the guy...even after the hardest line free speecher on her staff begged her to.

The staff of 20 disappeared...and then the posters. Now the site is dead.

Why people do that is beyond me...but I am glad Kirk keeps an eye on this place.

Why, hello there Gala!

So sorry to hear about your friend. My condolences.

You make an interesting point about democracy, one with which I'm in agreement.

Our freedoms of "expression" are often misunderstood. There is no constitutional guarantee that we can say anything we want, in any way we want, with impunity. The first amendment addresses the freedom of speech and, seperately, the freedom of the press.

There's an old adage that's worth noting here: "the freedom of the press belongs to the one who owns the press." This is Kirks press and no one elses. He is well within his rights to limit any expression on this board if he is so inclined. His is the right -- and perhaps the difficult duty -- to protect this, his twenty-first century printing press.

Hopefully, this little tangent won't get me banished to the Politics Board!
