Misti; I was getting frustrated on my way to work yesterday and then I remembered the best therapy...John Lennon used to practice it. It's called Primal Screaming ha. So I rolled up the windows and turned up the music and screamed bloody murder ha. Felt just great after that..ha TRY IT! You might like it..ha I can remember reading the book but wasn't taken with it, but the concept of letting go with a major scream (I mean blood curdling), works for me ha.
White Stripes take their unique brand of rock up the charts

By MIKE HOUSEHOLDER - ASSOCIATED PRESS

DETROIT, July 2 — The White Stripes have captured the holy grail of rock: indie credibility plus mainstream success. Not that it matters much to Jack White.
''It's like, 'Let's all have a round of applause and a toast.' But you can't live for those things,'' said White, the Stripes' lead vocalist, songwriter and guitar player.
''Elephant,'' the fourth album in five years for the Detroit-based duo that includes drummer Meg White, was recorded in two weeks on ancient equipment for what the record industry considers pocket change. Now it's been certified gold with more than 500,000 sales and appeared as high as No. 6 on the Billboard chart.
''If 'Elephant' had not sold any copies, it wouldn't have upset me and Meg,'' Jack White said in a recent interview. ''We've really tuned ourselves to not caring that much about it.''
Their focus always has been on the music.
The formula: Take Jack's ferocious guitar and Meg's pulsating beats, add some blues, a dash of country, and a few Led Zeppelin-esque riffs. The lack of a bass only adds to the raw sound beneath Jack's emotionally charged vocals.
''Their sound is so enormous,'' said Sia Michel, Spin magazine's editor in chief. ''You can't believe that there are only two people on stage.''
Jack White grew up in Detroit listening to the Who, Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan and playing drums with his friend Dominic Suchyta on bass. They later got into blues artists like Howlin' Wolf and Detroit area rock acts the Stooges and the MC5.
''I was obsessed with blues music and trying to really find a way a white boy like me from Detroit who was born in the '70s could play it, because it felt so right to me in my bedroom,'' White said.
The pair rode their bicycles to record stores in nearby Dearborn and recorded Dylan covers at White's house, where they used a four-track machine left by his older brothers.
When White was still a student at Cass Tech, he met Meg. They claim to be siblings, but interviews and court records suggest they were married for four years before divorcing in 2000.
Regardless, they formed the White Stripes in 1997 and started playing live shows at clubs for as few as 20 people. And they stood out, said Willy Wilson, a disc jockey at Detroit radio station WDET.
''The two-piece was sort of novel — not a lot of bands were doing that,'' he said. ''It seemed like the songwriting was creative. Jack was a very good guitar player. There was something there.''
Their first two albums, ''White Stripes'' and ''De Stijl'' met with little fanfare. That all changed after the band recorded its breakthrough disc, 2001's ''White Blood Cells,'' in Memphis, Tenn.
The White Stripes became a phenomenon in Great Britain that summer. They appeared at awards shows, graced magazine covers, picked up accolades for the Lego-inspired video for ''Fell In Love With a Girl'' and rocked out at gigs across the globe.
''When we first went over there, we had no manager, no press agent, no record label — nothing,'' Jack White said. ''We just thought, 'We're going to get to play a few shows and get a vacation to England.' And it just exploded.''
With the increased exposure came questions about the Whites' relationship — and about the kitschy red and white color scheme to which they strictly adhere in public.
While they have been less than forthcoming about personal history and style, there is little dispute about their buzz.
In its five-star review of ''Elephant,'' Rolling Stone called it ''a work of pulverizing perfection ... It is a glorious thing to hear. It will be one of the best things you hear all year.''
Blender magazine called them ''the greatest rock & roll band in the world.''
''Elephant'' was recorded at London's Toe Rag studio using no equipment dating past 1963. ''It's interesting to show that an album can be made for $8,000 and go gold in a couple of weeks with only a two-piece rock 'n' roll band,'' said Jack White. ''That's pretty insane. I never would have thought anything other than selling 100 45s, you know?
''All that stuff that's been thrown upon us, we never really could figure it out. I still don't really know. I don't know what the appeal is at all.''
Well I don't want to scare anybody. I have a pretty good set of lungs. But if you do by all means roll down the windows and let her rip. And for extra credit points and added effect find a great place that echoes it back to you..ha

Actually I try not to buy too much into anybodys psyco-babble. I'd rather take a little of each and make my own. I just know it's a great release, if you don't get to carried away and have a heart attack or car wreck doing it hahahahah
Of what i have observed, the American Indian practiced primal screaming....my mother recommended this to me while I was growing up & it was recommended by her elderly family members...when i walk outside and do this in my backyard, I have to warn the neighbors first...or they run over to see what is wrong...The first time this happened, I told them "nothing now that I have screamed"....it's especially good for those that stuff their frustrations, but really great for when I had PMS...I have found that one of my favorite places to do the scream is in the shower...I usually do this type of screaming while alone, but my daughter and I have practiced it during trips to Arkansas (along with yodelling)...Some of my closest friends aren't aware that I scream...I have a soft sweet southern voice, so no one would ever suspect it...

Primal screaming...that would be a great screen name...
Thanks for the suggestion but I am waaaaay ahead of ya on that one! Yes, primal screaming is the way to go. I also recommend primal singing. I especially like "What's Going On" by 4NonBlondes and ANYTHING by Babes in Toyland! Ha! I like your latest poem, btw. But what is a lacy cut-out mirror???
...I just watched "Paradise Lost"...the documentary on the three little boys who were brutally murdered in West Memphis, Arkansas almost ten years ago. I am outraged that they pinned it on three innocent teenagers just because they didn't conform to their backwoods conformist illiterate society. So today I'm sending letters to two of the guys...Damien Echols and Jason Baldwin. The third guy, Jessie Misskelley, Jr., has a very low IQ so I will probably send him some kind of card and just write a few lines in it. My husband: "Just don't fall in love with any of those guys." Dear gawd.

...I encourage anyone who has the time to research the West Memphis Three and rent or buy the documentary, "Paradise Lost." You can easily find their prison addresses online. I just mailed off two letters to Jason and Damien. I'm going to start sending them money each month. When I have more of a voice maybe I can step up my efforts to help these men out. Thanks.

Thinking years back to when I read 'The Primal Scream'....I do remember doing it. And I do believe that one of the components was that you were to lie spread eagle on your back as you screamed. Exposed. Vulnerable. I had a hard time with that. But I did it. LOL!

Now I have a box of glass that I collect up and save...jars, cups, glasses, plates...anything that shatters...and I go out to "The Place" and smash glass. Works for me. Maybe the Scream did its job way back then and all that remains is the deep desire to destroy something in a magnificent way.
Misti; Well I really do have the slice of walnut from a tree and on top are beeswax candles and shells and gems and next to that a tiki statue, (she's got her fists clinched and she's screaming)Then behind it all is a mirror. They took the wood and scrolled it in cut outs and it looks lacy to me. The candles reflect the mirror and it's just something I put together from my wild imagination. Sets on top of a small rolltop desk. The chanting part is fiction ha but it was fun writing about it.

Pam; I love it that screaming is an Indian tradition handed down. That is so cool.
that sounds awesome! every woman should have an altar. Yesterday I bought a little bag of colored rocks that I will use at work to relieve the stress. I spent about five minutes picking out the best rocks, the smoothest and most colorful. I had a temporary altar once when I was at Job Corps in Oklahoma. I was in love with a hardcore hedonist named Taz and he was basically just using me. I went inside the tiny bathroom in my room and turned off the lights and created an altar on the toilet (with the lid down)...I remember I used a black lace bra and a purple candle carved with Taz's name and the symbols for Capricorn and Aquarius. I'm glad the magic failed me. Otherwise I might be in a trailer in Houston right now with two brats I would have to raise on welfare 'cause their daddy would be in the pen for homicide.
