| Keeping On

Despite the events of the past month, our need for
human emotional contact continues, and the Blender
of Love carries on. Many excellent
pieces were submitted throughout September, and I
believe that by balancing acknowledgement of our
loss with continuing on as even a keel
as possible we diminish the deeds that the world
has witnessed.
Some fine works grace our front page this month, and
there's other interesting (if somewhat goofy)
news, this month's
feature
 is all about the
loveblender.com merchandise
now available for online purchase.

 Also, we've started a new
survey question feature-- the first one being "What are your favorite five romantic movies?" (Free, no-catches site membership required to participate.)

PS An odd note about the top quote... Mark Twain's Yankee
was actually not talking about romance but about a fear
of some (gotta be mythical, right?) ogres. The quote
seems more appropriate given the metaphorical but very
non-mythical ogres we now face. But we'll face them together,
and we'll be ok.

Falling
By Mo Roihl,
Submitted by Kirk.
A sketch Mo put on my Palm Pilot when we first started going out.
MeSSeS
 By Misti.
Another result of a "Writer's Challenge". A little jumbled,
but it has a good rhythm.
Knowing
 By Galadrial.
I like the theme, and the theme's summary in the final line.
What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where And Why
By Edna St. Vincent Millay,
Submitted by scqueen.
I've always been a fan of Millay (especially this poem). There has recently been a bout of looks at her work and her
 life.
love muffin
 By angieubaldo.
A potentially "perverted haiku". Seems reminescent of Cookie Monster.
She's short!
By MichaelT(),
Submitted by MichaelT().
A prosey poem. Historically, it seems that I'm rather partial
to short women.
Heartfelt
 By wistful.
An evocative piece with a nice form. Though I've always been lousy
at arts and crafts.
september
 By kevin urenda.
Kevin Urenda on going on gracefully.
Contemplating a Face You've Never Seen
 By Toklas.
Captivated by the ending, which might be a begining.
Absence
 By J. E. Kane.
Makes the heart grow fonder, or go wander.
Forget me not
 By deevaa.
In memorial for September 11, 2001, yet not devoid of human romance.
pretending
 By Pepper.
Spicy.
from _Letters to a Young Poet_
By Rainer Maria Rilke,
Submitted by Echolocation.
My poetry teacher at Tufts Peter Richards had me read this book. It's a good quote.
In my mind
 By Courtney.
Coming to terms with a new life.
Snap!
By Graham Storrs,
Submitted by graham_storrs.
This piece reminds me that not all griefs and trials and hopes these
days are nation- and world-wide.
