Try the Blender of Love
2007 End of Summer
Writing Challenge
Ah, the dog days of August, nature's way of reminding us to get busy and appreciate the summer because there ain't gonna be much more of it to go around.

Great month for works this month on the Blender of Love, the web's first community poetry forum. Some summer passion, some songs of lost, always real feeling.

So as always, read and enjoy!
--Kirk, Blender-Keeper

Words, Written and Unwritten - Ali
"There is a certain syntactical error in your smile"...great opening line.

Mushmouth - B.K.
Very evocative July Fourth celebration.

Come Back - Star of David
Tragic prose of loss.

Letters Let Her Go - Savannah Haze
Eavesdropping on letters that will never be sent.

Reasoning - briana kassia
"for Scott", a lovesong.

Tonight is the night - musicalduck
Ambivalence (in the proper "Girl, Interrupted" sense of the term.)

CALL WAITING - rennielorca
Complaint of the accidental "friend with benefits"

Stephanie - jwb71913
We had a small contest about teenage summer romance... a nostalgic look back with a hint of lust.

changing season - lilla
That was the end.

hair of the dog, this one named leslie - nazareth / aparajita
The old pop rock ballad provides the frame for this work.

all i see - darwin
The repetition that strengthens the last line of this work makes me wonder if we pay too little attention to the craft of the poetry we make here on the Blender; even if free verse there are tools such as that that might be under-utilzed.

time and wounds - i'm just him
"Time wounds all heels". I was struck by the possible double meaning of the feeling that will fade; is the feeling of being human?

Quote - CJ King / hairdiva
Beautiful one-liner; it seems a little facile at first, but then reveals surprising nuance.

Party Girl (with apologies to U2) - Abogada / abogadalbny
Viva Las Vegas.

Remembering You - Acacia / unconditional
That weight of remembrance.

Heart on Sleeve Corner
75 more heartsongs sent to the Blender last month.
